Great strawbale, we have a couple questions... 1. What method did you use to finish the top of the strawbales where they meet the eves on the second floor? 2. Were you able to get home owners insurance? If so where? Thank you
Hi, sorry for the extremely late reply - we were not monitoring this site as well as we should have. You have probably found out the information that you need, however it might be used to help someone else.
1. Generally what we detail is a plywood (sealed with silicon or similar) top which is then rendered to. This ensures that there will be no gaps. Other builders, might have their own tricks.
2. It honestly depends on where you live as to who might insure you. We have not heard many problems in Adelaide, Australia however it is probably best to contact your local strawbale builder.
