Hi all, great post. Hard to find alot of reviews in kitchen sinks. Ive been looking at oliveri sinks to. Got nervous due to bad reviews. @Azur Farrell I went and looked at ABI on the goldcoast. Very helpful and sales pitch was great. The lady there had installed two gunmetal sinks in her home and said she was more than happy. For me the sinks was not quite the right size. She did tell me that the colour was 3/4 the way thru. ?? This might make scratches less obvious. I need to do more research on this as its only natural that your sink will get a scratch or two over x amount of years. I had More or less decided on the spectra in gun metal. (Wanted a bigger bowl). Did you get yours Azur? Im wonder if its scratches easily. Given its only 1.2mm coating im concerned it will be more obvious. (As opposed to stainless steel) FYI A sale lady told me that Abey pulled their gunmetal sink off the market. She wasn’t sure why but they where not happy with the product. If anyone can help re coloured spectra oliveri sinks i would love some feedback. As its undermount.. it wont be an easy task to replace.

To give an idea we looked at what we needed to do as the house is 30 years old and the kitchen appliances had all started to fail, cabinets falling apart, flooring damaged (only lino most of it) and bathrooms had cracked or chipped tiles etc. The previous original owners were also over 80 when they sold and couldn’t see the work required, in their eyes it was still fantastic. We realised we could easily spend enough to go into the low 100s k, so decided to do more, take it further and go over 150k so we could apply for the 25k grant which we did before new year. This mainly included more electrical work, a Zip tap and the skylight than the general wet areas. The builder gave us a ”mid-upper” range budget when we signed up which helped with tile selection and cabinet handles etc (not top end at all) and we have been pretty disciplined to keep the variations to a minimum (less than 10%). It helped doing the double glazing and buying new appliances ourselves this was cheaper. After getting the grant back we will be under 200k, but installing double glazing around the whole house wasnt cheap, this cost about 30 alone.

We're very happt with it. Here is is complete with dishes. We still prefer to do a lot of handwashing so the sink gets a heavy workout. One year later ist still like new. The sink sizes function very well- I think they are 1 3/4 size and i've never wished for larger. Very glad we went with the build in drainage board and havent felt the need for any accessories. By coincidence, the drainage rack from Howard's storage happens to fit neatly in the big sink, but we usually just leave it out.

Hi Will, we have the Taurus and certainly love the look. We installed it late winter last year so it’s only recently that we have really put it through its paces. We have a huge open plan area to heat and this does do the job but needs a constant supply of hardwood to keep it effective. i am a bit disappointed at how quickly it burns through the timber even when turned down. it is absolutely cold by next morning and does not provide warmth overnight. it also billows smoke whenever the door is opened though this eventually lessens as the heat builds and the timber burns more efficiently. The firebox is quite shallow and it’s a challenge at times to stoke the timber safely as on occasions the coals and logs teeter on the front edge and it’s easy for them to fall out. We crafted a steel lip to sit in front as a prevention. And lastly it’s disappointing that no matter how much we try we always end up with blackening on the glass which requires daily cleaning. i’m guessing this is related to the abundance of smoke that seems to remain accumulated when lighting the fire and getting it going over the first hour. And yes, our firewood is excellent quality and dry but i can’t help thinking there needs to be a redesign to allow the smoke to travel up the flu rather than remain in the firebox.
