I agree about the grey roof. Did you know that the black roof is banned is certain countries because of its environmental negatives? I also think that a black roof is the ugliest sight. I personally would never have any other roof colour, on a visible roof [ours is a flat roof] than a mid to dark grey. The render does need to be toned down and the garage door needs to change to the same roof grey. The picket fence will be at odds with a modern update of the house - it has too much of the cottage look about it. So you really need to think about what style of home you want to depict before making any more changes. All of your updates then reflect this new look. Alison

From the style of the dining suite, the hutch and the club arms (square) on the sofas it looks like your design style is more traditional than contemporary. If this is the case, you will probably be happier with the Persian rug. However the orange, yellow and turquoise chevron patterned scatter cushions don't work with this rug as the colours are too contemporary. If you like turquoise, try teal as the deeper shade goes well with red, grey and black.

Hi, Based on the provided floorplan, the issue is that your rooms are long and quite narrow so this will present a bit of a challenge with furniture placement. When Selecting furniture I would suggest you choose sofas and armchairs that are sleek and have a small footprint. Make sure that the arms are narrow so they don't take up too much valuable space. The below sofa and armchair are a good example of what I'm referring to. The fire place in the Family Room takes up a lot of space in the centre of the only wall without windows, perhaps you would consider moving it into a corner? This would free up some space and provide some much needed circulation space. Otherwise this room is in danger of looking a little bit like a waiting room with sealing along one wall. If you like open plan and aren't worried about taking out walls, then there is an opportunity to open up the wall between the dining room, Living Room and Kitchen for a real Open Plan space, but this would involve redesigning the entire living space of the house. Not impossible but a bit messy. Hope this helped, MKG

I like the 525 Coastal Gum in your last pic. It's light but has that ever so slight red in it that goes with the terracotta tiles, although it could just be the pic and lighting etc. But I do prefer it. Or I was going for the 550 before that. You definitely need to stick with the lighter/or oak look finish I think. Dark is way overrated and a bugger to keep clean. It shows up so much in the sunlight and yet I don't even have all that dark floors. Mine is more like a merbau look laminate and it shows up so much dust and dirt (I'm on acreage with a gravel driveway though!) But my parent's have a spotted gum engineered timber flooring with a shiny finish and it is sooooooo much nicer. So definitely stick with the lighter oak finish :)
