To Nicole K..OOOOOOH That sounds really classy! Why didn't anybody come up with that earlier on? I don't drink...but just for the decorator touch, if I had that fridge and that space, I'd get the calssiest alcohol shelving and fill it with the most elegant bottles available......suppose the real thing would cost a mint...so I'd hunt for the bottles and fill them with the appropriately coloured liquid...food colouring dye and water ought to do it. Maybe just one real bottle....my brandy for the upset tum. What a good idea!

Refer to your fridge specs before you close anything in. Fair Trading laws in this country have obsoleted warranties. There is now a sliding scale of reasonable expectation on consumer items which means manufacturers will rely on their tech specs more than ever. Check what minimum clearance your fridge officially needs on the sides and above the machine for ventilation before doing anything. Get your lighting working for you. Choose a 'warm white' lamp - not daylight or cool white. Cool whites kill off the warmer hues and makes things appear cold. Change, add or move your lighting to have two small gimbled ceiling lights wash down the face of the joinery instead of one bright light focussed on the fridge. Lighting can make a poor space look great or a great space look poor.

No.1 would have to be solar panels to pay for the cost of running all these new toys. Luke, seriously, we all claim to be green these days and are concerned about our planet and the environment but have we really stopped to think how "green" these toys are? We are becoming like kids at Christmas with them. These toys are all predominantly plastic, just like kids toys, they break we throw away except with adult toys their shelf life is as long as it takes for the next bigger and better model to come out. Emphasis these days is all about making our lives easier but all these labour saving devices are not making things easy for our environment. It is almost a joke that a plastic water bottle takes twice as much water to make than the liquid it holds. We are all proud of ourselves when we recycle but how many of us have actually followed what really happens with our recycling - how much energy and water is required in the recycling process, how much of it is actually reused? We are recycling more product than we have use for - what happens to the excess?? The more of these toys that keep coming, the more excess waste we will have. Hello Glynn, you probably don't want to hear this but I don't really agree with your plan. You are planning on wrecking the appearance of your Kitchen and de-valuing your home, just to be able to keep your old refrigerator which will still not be ideal for the remaining space. My more practical suggestion would be to purchase a new refrigerator that fits and works properly in the space you have. Hope this helps, Malcolm.
