Have you been to visit some kitchen showrooms? You can customise the photo search here on Houzz quite a bit. For example, you can simply select [dark wood[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/kitchen-design-ideas-with-dark-wood-cabinets-phbr1-bp~t_10444~a_17-103) cabinet finish in the filter options. Then add more filters like floor colour, kitchen layout, cabinet style, wall colour etc if you wish. Leave the benchtop and splashback options open and see what results you get. You can then save any photos that appeal to your ideabook.

I think that would look great with floorboards in a classic walnut colour, that would definitely look great with the light cabinets. If you want an idea of how it might look with the end finishes, you can type this into google and they should be able to show you a few.

I would vote for the top example here. Itr gives an earthy tone to the room and yet is still bright and wont show every piece of dust or food.

Before you make any changes, make up a moodboard from pics here on Houzz and Pintrest. It will guide all the choices you make for new home (congratulations). If you are making changes incrementally and have lots of choices it’s essential to have a guide to refer back to. I don’t love the splashback tiles but seriously just clean them and add some styling and they’ll be fine until you decide what to do permanently. I wouldn’t be spending any money on painting the cabinets either. Change the handles (which can be reused) and spend on some new appliances (black kettle and toaster if that suits your look - you’ll need some black there somewhere if you go with black handles) and styling. Add a vintage kilim style rug for the floor and some art. At the moment the cabinet colour seems prominent due to the empty unstyled spaces. Don’t waste your money on temporary renovations. It’s by no means an offensive kitchen as is.
