I think everyone is basically on the same page here. Basically, this is a good kitchen which needs nothing done to it, unless you're going to live there and it's currently not to your taste. Yes, you can lighten it up by changing the splashback - it is rather brown (and I'm not a fan of brown) - but it is a perfectly 'servicable' kitchen. If you're selling then talk to a professional designer for ideas or go to tile, decorator store - or check out current magazines, and change a few things from there. If you're selling or renting, it won't make any difference to the price. If you're going to live there, then do that - like others have said, live with it for a while until you decide what you want. I think a glass splashback in another colour would go over whatever you already have there, but the countertops look like they are ceasarstone and they are fine - and a good colour. The sinks are also fine - wish I'd chosen them instead of a double sink - it takes up a lot more space but does the same job. I can't see too much that needs changing here, so it's just about what you 'want' and noone else can tell you that. All the best with what you decide.

I would get an 'L' shaped lounge that can run dow the right hand wall and across where the other lounge is now - or simply get another lounge that matches. Move the TV to the other side and hang it on the wall, as everyone has suggested. Don't worry about not seeing it from the kitchen - it can go on a swivel stand so you can move it at will. You may need curtains as that area seems to be a little lighter than the other side of the room. With an L shaped lounge or 2 x 2 seaters, you'll have tons of room for the kids. You can put some storage where the TV was, and the storage that is under the TV now can move across to be under the TV again.

Agree on the tiles... it's a bit of wait and see what we can salvage and what gets broken as the old cabinets are removed We did throw that design around, the island would be smaller, but totally agree would be better from a work triangle perspective. Less time on feet.. In the end we decided to move to take advantage of this view :-)... Hi experts! We just bought a house and the kitchen is dated but in good condition. We'd like to do a refresh. Any suggestions? I'd like a new natural stone benchtop but not sure if we paint or restain the solid wood cabinets. Budget constraints means i think we'll keep the tiled floors. Looking for modern country feel as its an acerage property. Thank you!
