Comments (12)Under sink drawers are a wonderful use of space, giving you easy access to what always gets pushed to the back & forgotten or can't be found. Drawers for plates etc. I find overhead cupboards hard to access what is at the back be it glasses or cups or foodstuff, so having these too deep is not practical. Pull out vertical shelves for your jars & packets. I like the idea of under cupboard & kick-board lighting. Have you considered a dust vent that you can sweep all your crumbs etc into? They are similar to ducted vacuum units & fitted at floor level under a cupboard. Also incorporate storage for all your appliances to hide them away. If you go with a glass splash-back, make sure it is clear glass as some is green tinged can ruin your intended effect. Enjoy your new kitchen....See MoreBacksplash
Comments (39)okay!!! A lot of these commenters obviously thought what I did - that the cupboards are a deep browney grey!! I think the responses would have been very different if we knew the cupboards were white. If you re-read thru the responses you will see that. Perhaps try re-posting the dilemma with a better pic. Comments (65)Hi AndrewJason, I love cavity sliders. they are there when you want them but not visible when you need the space open. Having said that they cost more, take a bit of wreckage to set up and in you WA case you will be wrecking brick walls to put them in which might be a stretch of mess too far. BUT you will need to weigh up if they are worth it in the end. I do not think the build will be too bulky in the kitchen/dining because it will be superbly practical on both sides and it maybe just a matter of what you are used to. Not sure about "Average Joe...…" we are all good at somethings, mine is plans, function, practicality, solar. Yours might be brain surgery, empathy for unwell folks, kinda or you make the best seafood lasagne in the world... we are all needed to make for a great world: and it really is that!!! Good luck with your splendid home: I think it is beautiful. And PS if you do make the best seafood anything I better have your address....!!!!!!! Comments (42)Moving the niche is not an option at this point. But I do have a question about the niche. My tile installer wants me to consider using the gray tile (same as the floor) on the inside edges of the niche. This is because the wall tile is glass and imperfections in the glass (from cutting it) will show if the glass tile is on the inside edge. How do you guys think that would look? I tried to find photos of a niche where the wall and back of the niche were one color, with the sides being a second color and I couldn't find any examples. Has anyone seen that?...See More- 10 years ago
