Help with Master Bedroom/Ensuite design
Comments (17)I don't think I could cope with an open plan bathroom, I like wet areas to be totally separate, the steam entering the bedroom would be of concern and I would not want to even think about a toilet. We did not even like the idea of having the ensuite opening directly off the bedroom, instead have the dressing room opening off it with the ensuite opening off that. Having the dressing room between the ensuite and bedroom totally minimises noise. I find it far more convenient to walk from the shower directly to the dressing room to dress without even going into the bedroom....See MoreHelp, ideas, suggestions for master bedroom
Comments (7)$3000 is not a lot of money to spend on a make-over. This means that your decsions will be guided by your budget, and what you can live with, and what needs replacing. For instance if the carpet is in a good usable condition (I can't see from the photos or information), then use that as a starting point for the choice of colours and materials for the rest of the space. Your budget will exclude any changes other than paint to your ensuite and existing cabinetwork. One of the most important aspects of a bedroom makeover is the window furnishings to make sure that they block out enough light for those early summer mornings, and keep the heat in during thise cold winter nights. Careful selection of bedside lights can give you a lot of bang for your buck, as can a fresh coat of paint. Unfortunately only generalisations can be made about your makeover without any understanding of the rest of the room, the location of the ensuite, your climate, your existing furniture, the orientation and the type of doors. Good design is informed by understanding the client, the constraints, and the opportunities. You have not provided any meaningful information for a meaningful response. Comments (24)We intend to stay in our master upstairs for sometime and move down when we feel comfortable OR move them both into the guest bedroom which is opposite the new master. We originally had our master suite upstairs with the boys room down stairs, however we think it's safer this way when they are younger. The 1st floor will be their domain, with their own kitchenette, bathroom, study, living and deck... so they will never have to leave home 😉 I think I have drawn up 300 different options 🤦♀️ Does your huaband and his Identicial twin have an amazing bond? Comments (16)without any special views it's not cost effective to alter the windows and (assuming the window into the old living area is full height?) i would prefer to keep the big window, with a wide doorway (with or without cavity sliding doors into the hallway to include the hallway as part of the dressing area and add venetians or shutters to the window for privacy and afternoon sun control) ) ... making the WIW a little wider (still plenty of space in the bedroom) allows for a central island in the WIW to create back to back storage for shoes and folded clothes, a counter for a set down space and /or jewellery box, make up mirrors etc.. depends on your preferred style ?? rearranging the bathroom allows for a double vanity and shower and the hallway will be useful for extra dressing area and maybe a gallery of favourite artwork... another option could be to swap the wiw and ens and then the wiw could be used as walk through sitting room/study (resale?) without the hall wall and add a biw to the master bedroom but that would mean changing windows and extra plumbing costs...See More- 10 years ago
