Top cupboards and walk in pantry necessary?
Comments (9)Definately no overheads necessary, this glass section will look amazing, I've doe this in a kitchen, and it looks as though the tops been peeled back. It is amazing to have this size space, and tall cabinets next to the fridge will look fully integrated, my only thought is that while it may not need a walk in pantry, most people want one if it's do-able. To do both, I would offset another wall where your fridge is, by about 1500mm, keeping the fridge at the end, then as if the tall cabinets were there anyway, apply cabinet doors (panels to the wall with one of them actually concealing the entrance to a walk in, with full height open shelves. Tis way it's ample pantry storage, but also can accommodate a multitude of appliances and kitchenalia. When the pantry doors closed it will look like the design you currently have, with a nice surprise behind the wall. Best of both worlds. Taking the 1500mm off the width of this room will actually square up the rooms proportions anyway. So I'd do this....See MoreColour of bulkhead - ceiling, wall or cupboard?
Comments (10)Hi I'd go the colour of the wall. I love a white kitchen :) If you're looking for a point of difference, however, you could add some colourful cook books in the corner. You could also add little door knobs along the top cabinets, if you want, too help break them up a bit. Although drastic, removing the cupboard doors above the fridge and filling with colourful cook books would also add a pop of colour. It would still be in keeping with your shaker style too. Although, I'm sure you've just spent a lot on those doors, lol. Anyway, I think you've done a great job. It's a hard space to work with, small and u shaped. I can now appreciate the difficulties in working with an odd shaped kitchen! It's hard to get symmetry, so it limits what you can do. I'm about to do a similar style kitchen and was wondering what colour you used on your cabinets? They look great :)...See MoreNo eye line on kitchen cupboards
Comments (29)I so agree with Alphen Construction - on first glance, it is definitely the handles that are drawing the eye to changes in height. I would definitely try Alphen Constructions' suggestion re 'blocking out the handles with tape' to see how you like the effect. Take a photo when you do it, you can then compare. I think I would remove the handle from the cupboard over the fridge and the cupboard over the stove. I wonder if a steel extractor fan that would take that cupboard to the same level as the other cupboards might be an effective trick, it would also tie in the steel of the fridge, oven and appliances. Under cabinet lighting is needed in my opinion. I do hope you will be able to enjoy your kitchen because it is lovely. I wish you all the best....See MoreThinking of re doing laminates drawers cupboards in Kitchen?
Comments (12)The pole isnt structural , but is just sitting on the granite bench with a small indent cut out (I asked for that not to be done but you know how it goes) Like your suggestions. What would you suggest for colour difference, or not, of the walls vs cabinetry? The teal accents on walls are an experiment...But now I am getting a sand/white cloth chaise in adjoining lounge area....I am up for anything that is stunning! (except cant change granite top :()...See Moreauntthelma
