HOUZZ CALL: What strange household habits put Australia on the map?
Comments (70)Yeah, that is what i got when i looked it up it just did not clarify the bag or box, oll, thanks. I know tin roofs, we had those in FL, online does not clarify where, but started in 1700s, all over US. Maybe come from england since we both have? Meat pies we have. American is pot pies, spanish - empanadas, i forgot the name for greek and armenian. We fought for the right to vote, but it was forced on you? Can you go to jail? Sounds harsh. Comments (84)Absolutely agree with blueskies60 ! Remove the artwork/bench/plant that's on the left and replace then with either a bookshelf or a tall chest of drawers. Perhaps the plant can be repositioned into the corner on the floor where this troublesome niche is (there seems to be more than enough light there for a plant) and just place something calm and simple in the niche itself - perhaps a Japanese style scroll or pen and ink art work set off with a more rounded object sitting in the left corner of the niche; a gorgeous rock, a lovely candle, a calming statue... If you have (my preference) a chest of timber drawers on the left where the current art work is, you'll break up the symmetry, have more storage and have another surface upon which you can place a changing display of objects. This is the area that I would utilise for a mirror....See MoreLooking for a creative Christmas tree alternative

Later, in a small apartment, a few evergreen twigs hung on the wall in the form of a tree worked fine. The next year we had an ornamental bamboo in that same spot so that became the tree....See MoreHelp putting finishing touches on house design.
Comments (2)If you are in Sydney, we do have in house kitchen designers, who can help with kitchen layout and as your an electrician you can save money by fitting out the electrical side yourself, however we don't do landscaping. Have you had a look on houzz or pinterest to get some ideas of lighting you like. Ambience lighting is about having dimmers on your main lights and placing lamps ect in dark corners. Task lighting is important in the kitchen, office (if your having one) and basically anywhere you sit and have to look at things like a book, plans for your home, crafting, food. Sconces are to accentuate something like a window, painting or help you find your way down a hallway. Use long pendant, chandelier type lights for your ceilings it draws your eyes up. Track-lights or too many down-lights can look tacky. Everything essentially depends on how you are styling your home. A building company we have worked with that does what you need and are pretty good is Scopeview Projects. Check them out they maybe able to help....See MoreBarbara Dunstan
