Hi Aleta1, youre getting down to the nitty gritty of Interior Design now. Choosing the perfect colour involves addressing many issues...size of your windows, orientation of the house, height of ceilings, size of rooms, purpose for room to name a few. If you have the time I recommend getting a sample pot of full and half strength and try it in a couple of corners of each room. That way you can see how the colour looks at different angles. I have a separate guest toilet without windows using a ceiling extractor fan - not a problem. I also have internal cavity sliding doors to bathrooms and toilets and love how they give extra space and options regarding placement of items. Another location alternative for you may be between the cinema room and the kitchen, depending on what you had planned for that extra space in the kitchen. Two metres is a wide hallway, if that is what it is? Ours is 1.3 which is considered wide (as we need to accommodate a wheelchair which has to turn into doorways). An advantage of a very wide hallway is it gives room for extra furniture placement such as bookshelves, linen or other cupboards if needed. I don't see a linen cupboard or pantry cupboard in your plans. Something else to think about is future proofing - try to cover future possibilities with regard to function, as making structural or fittings changes later can be more expensive, and may come at a time when you can least afford it (e.g. injured, disabled, children, aging or other such people visiting your home). Lives change, sometimes over time, sometimes in an instant, and suddenly the doors are not wide enough (especially the toilet door!), or the walls are not strong enough for a weight-bearing rail, and a host of other things. We put 900cm doors as a minimum and it makes life a lot easier, including moving furniture in and out. Universal Design principles are worth a look. Sadly these considerations are currently considered special or optional, although there are moves to change that, so that builders and architects will consider these things as standard.

I’m glad you like it Irove. We have done similar changes to our house. -I’m not sure what your council will require in regard to your changes. Ours was only for the fitting out the supporting beam. Ours was supporting an upstairs area, whereas yours may only be supporting a roof truss or not. So I’d check that out first. Worst case scenario, you may need a supporting post. All of the work for this can be done by a registered carpenter. Get quotes! -There are kitchen companies that do flat pack kitchen but also offer the added service of an installer at a very reasonable rate. My daughter had her whole kitchen installed, including electrics and plumbing for $3500. They could also do your WIR and vanity downstairs and coffee bar.😜 -Downstairs, all the plumbing is already existing, you can work with this. Check with your local council about any certificates you may need. I am wondering if downstairs maybe on a concrete slab? If so, there is amazing work being done now with polished concrete. Check it out. Back to the bathroom. We bought all our plumbing fixtures and fittings on line for a fraction of the price that any bathroom company charged. We bought our tiles from a bargain tile place, (larger tiles are cheaper and quicker to lay and less fiddly) they suggested a tiler. We called in a plumber to fit out the bathroom. You will also need you carpenter to be involved in this. Get all trades together before you even start. Work out your plan, if you keep most of your amenities in place, it will make it cheaper. That doesn’t mean you can’t update them. Good luck, if you do go with this!

So those bricks/fireplace structure probably looks a lot more sound than it actually is... I planned to keep it as a space for the oven, so I've done a heap of re-mortaring (tuck pointing?) and extended the concrete pad to fit the second hand oven we got with the cabinets. My partner is a plumber, so he's run a gas line up and everything, it seemed like an easy option for now... But fitting in a rangehood was an oversight. Between us we'd figure out something, I reckon I could customise an existing one to fit, and it's easy to vent it up through the current chimney if we have to. But this is where the fact that the chimney /fireplace is actually in terrible shape, the bricks are flaking (I believe it's called spalling) really badly, which is creating heaps of dust and meaning mortar isn't adhering properly etc. I could probably push the whole thing over, if I started from the top of course😊 It's not load bearing. We can take it down. It's really impeding on getting any sort of good flow in a very awkward kitchen space. I was going to just make it work and hope it didn't fall over while I was using the stove one day. Lol😒 It would mean a lot of extra room to potentially have more bench space. I need more bench! I would also like more light in the space, there's all the excessive windows on the "sunroom" but the kitchen feels dark and stuffy. It would be nice to be able to see out more. I'm thinking about putting in a larger window in place of the leadlight, and getting rid of the section of wall to the left of that window, trying to make the current kitchen and sunroom feel more like one large space. Also some sort of walk in on pantry if possible (I'm thinking built in sliding door corner sort of thing) and a more social space, like an island we can sit around
