Ashjean I have had a play with your house and suggest the following very basic layout at this time to see if you like it I would have the garage on the Battleaxe drive way along with laundry, bathroom and study, this could be built on the boundary with the eaves on this side reduced if needed, Windows would be high light up under any eaves. I suggest that the bedrooms are on the western boundary which will be quieter and cooler with plantings, the hard surfaces of the driveways will store any day time heat that will be released over night Keeping the floorplan simple with removing the extra passage to separate the bedrooms and bathroom and using a simple roof without too many extra ridges will save you money. I was inspired by the block, which has excellent orientation for a house which is comfortable in the local climate while being good for the planet, thus my comment about the stars, I think that is more valuable than the emphasis on 30 squares. The rest is up to the occupants' requirements, about which I am increasingly confused. I love seeing what others come up with, but I always feel the best starting point is a clear explanation of the requirements.

the dimensions are inconsistent which may be related to previous renovations but need to be properly checked before finalising any plans and i agree with others that it would be better to retain the entry hall for a WIW when there are already multiple living areas but, attempting to focus on the central area, my initial suggestion would be to sacrifice the existing study (relocate to original family room?) and create a separate entry mudroom and dining room with direct access to the outside but we need more details about the bumpout in the kitchen and existing meals area as, once the major internal wall is removed, there is limited wall space for cabinets and appliances but something like this might work
