entry needs help

hi...just moved into our new home and i need some help decorating. first area is the entry. we have this dark console table on wooden floors. any suggestions about ho to make it attractive? tia

i should add, disregard the clutter. hubby has been painting. the walls are shetland lace colour but seem darker.

I agree with what a few people have said already about using an artwork that reflects light, either by framing it behind glass or using metallic materials on a canvas. Hi Jessika, Ivy is the perfect choice for your hanging baskets, you could add pansies during the colder months and petunias mixed with the ivy in the summer, gorgeous, do you have any large garden centres near you, they will be able to advise a suitable tree, in Melbourne we have a great nursery called Gardenworld that has a fabulous range of plants and great advice , I am like you I love gorgeous gardens also, check out Paul Bangay and Peter Fudge for inspiration .

Hi Jodes, Love this look, most doors have a beautiful handle and that alone compliments the door and I think it could look wonderful for your door, brass chrome , stainless would all work really well and look great on your lovely home.

Lovely table, pick a theme and go for it, could be minimal or over the top luxe, a large plant by the window a large painting or mirror and some beautiful items ... lovely

def a mirror and a stool. hooks are always handy too for coats etc.

Hi Michelle!

Megan from Bluethumb online art gallery here. While a mirror would look great there, why not consider having a really unique piece of art instead? It's more of a talking point to greet visitors with, and adds much more personality to a space.

Since the table is quite a dark timber, I'd suggest a bright piece or a light toned neutral to lift the space.

As for styling the table, I'd suggest a vase with lots of greenery and white flowers for a nice neutral softness, plus candles and small accents. Natural elements would really suit all the timber that you have already, and create a really soothing entrance to your home (which is lovely after a busy work day!).
