I emailed strata and was advised to notify my nearby neighbors about the resurfacing coz there’s a bit of sound. No approval required. Btw you do need to conduct an asbetos test before the team can commence work. The company recommended a lab in Brisbane that you send the samples in double zip lock bags, express post. Took 24-48hrs for lab to send me the report in pdf. I then forwarded that to Ceiling Resurfacing so they know which technique they’ll gonna do.

Are you repainting the walls also? If not, then probably the worst would be splattering paint onto them and doubling your work... Otherwise, get a good quality primer for 1-2 coats (depending in how well the pink plaster gets covered) and lightly sand/wipe down in between or at least before starting top coat. As suggested above, use a roller on a long handle and we have found alternating the direction you roll it on for each coat helps achieve an even coverage (eg N-S then E-W). Having good lighting and someone to stand back and point out areas while still wet that need additional light touch up to remove excess lines or dried paint flecks helps (I usually do the cutting in and then take on the role of spotter while super tall hubby does the hard work). Have to agree with quality tools helping - I have found Monarch precision brushes excellent for cutting in (approx $20 so not too pricey in the scheme of things).

Hi AW my photos are only two. The other four photos are from houzz. I search bedroom in Perth. As we still build with concrete slab and double brick walls over here in the west. Gradually changing to other build types. In WA, You have to specifically ask the builders over here to install skirting boards if you what them. They are not included in the normal build. I think the look is fine.

Is that those tiles ? I did up a commercial bar 15 years ago that had them , with all the little holes and things . On a budget of next to nothing , I cut plywood to size and varnished it , and replaced every 5th or 6th tile with these . Still pretty boring , and we had the luxury of height , but I then did more plywood pieces , 200mm wider and longer . Half these I did in a mid brown stain , the other half in a reddish cedar stain , added 4 downlights per panel , in holes drilled into these panels , and suspended these mostly 100-150mm lower , with polished stainless steel threaded rod .
