I’m stuck with this question - do you match your bathroom and kitchen cabinets , eg same profile and colour , my kitchen is next to my bathroom , thanks in advance
If you live in a small apartment, or you can see both sets of cabinetwork together from a hallway, or another room, then matching them would be a good idea for visual consistancy. In a smaller home it is always a good idea to limit the number of materials and colours in your pallete to avoid it looking busy. Chose materials and colours that will work well in both spaces. Just because something works well in one room, it doesn't mean that it will automatically work as well in the other room due to different light (and windows).
If you live in a larger home, and there is no visual link between the two rooms then there is no need to use the same materials and colours. Although if you can't make decsions easily it might be easier to limit to a consistent pallete throughout!
I agree consistency in at least some of the materials makes for a cohesive interior. For example, our kitchen joinery has two different finishes (white and dark), but both bathroom cabinets have same dark finish as in half the kitchen. All have the same door profile. The vanity tops in bathrooms are different to the ones in kitchen - this was a point of difference we wanted. Best wishes!
There are no hard and fast rules- it all depends on what suits the space. In the project below we used the same joinery finish on kitchen and bathroom cabinets with different benchtops to suit. Different finishes for the laundry as we wanted this space to be light and bright and blend into surrounds. I would also add there are cost economies to be had with a limited number of finishes and materials as well. Best wishes
