Would you paint this white kitchen dark or light?

I know so much depends on the natural light of the kitchen and we are obviously missing our counter tops and backsplash but would you tend to paint this kitchen a lighter colour or a darker shade? We are drawn to blue-gray colours but stuck on how saturated it should be. Chairs will be navy blue and counter is Noble Gray caesarstone. havent picked backsplash yet.

Comments (23)One thing I love about the graphite cabinet color I want to use is that it is a stain - not paint. The stain is on maple (can also do cherry) cabinets so you still pick up some flecks of the natural wood color in the stain - which I think would draw in the light stain hardwood floors! I'm looking at Marsh Kitchen Savannah 1 cabinets in graphite - made in NC!! I am attaching a picture. This pic is actually the cherry cabinet because the photo is actually much more like the maple, graphite-stained cabinet as it looks in person. Comments (14)I like the contrast of the dark floor with the light color cabinets. There are things to consider before doing a dark floor 1. You will have I clean it more often because dirt will show up more 2. Scratches and dents are more prevalent. If you like dark floor but are worried about stuff showing up, my suggestion would be to use a penetrating oil like Rubio Monocoat. Comments (15)I think painting the walls lighter and brighter is the right move but don't be restricted to white necessarily - although that would be the safe option and you know for sure it would work! You could introduce a contrasting colour on the ceiling if the walls were white obviously dependent on your furnishings and other colour choices. How about a soft grey or "greige" as an alternative to the white? Finally, you could introduce a dado rail at approx 1m from the floor - painted white the same as cornice and ceiling and then paint the upper and lower sections in contrasting colours of say charcoal on the base and white above or 2 shades of the same colour....See MoreWhich white with doeskin colour windows and dark wood door frames.
Comments (0)I am planning an update for the large kitchen/dining/family area and new paint and floorcoverings throughout my late 1980's house. Looking for advice please on which white to paint my walls and doors to work to best advantage with: - doeskin (mustardy yellowish ) colour aluminium windows/sliding doors (painting window frames is beyond my budget) - jarrah (redddish brown) wood frames to main room doors in living area (thinking of changing these from stained to shiny wood finish) - a few special (handmade by hubby) jarrah furniture pieces to mix in with new styling. -woodgrained pattern vinyl tiles or bamboo flooring - new kitchen - probably simple white kitchen handleless cupboards (something that doesn't date too much) and a light speckled stone benchtop (room has low natural light) Was thinking of pale walls not to compete with yellow of windows or dark door frames and using splashes of greens in plants and accessories, gold and limited black, But maybe this is all wrong. 5 years agoI also vote light but you'll have to see how your counters look in place with the lighting. I love the color BM Half Moon Crest. I had it in my last house (master bath) with Carrara marble counters.
