We are using beautiful terrazzo in a number of high end homes we are currently designing.

My granny had a terrazzo slab on her kitchen table and as kids we used to pick out any stones that came loose, but it still managed to stay good for decades. The newer man made stones don't have that problem so I would probably use one of them. Loved the terrazzo though.

I have just bought a tiny unrenovated apartment in Umbria and I am so pleased that the kitchen has terazzo flooring. I look forward to seeing how it performs in this area of the house and it looks good too!

I'm working on a couple of projects that my clients have asked specifically for terazzo; where stone is needed for the long term durability (bench tops etc) it's a great way of adding texture and/or colour to a space. I look at it as a modern classic with a lively character. Corian, Caesarstone, marble & granite definitely have their place & I still use them extensively; they all have their own distinctive characteristics in terms of look, durability and maintenance that need to be taken into consideration with each individual project.
