Comments (54)@ EMILY! Thanks so much for showing us all that you've accomplished...what a big...ongoing job and its not cheap undertaking something like that. Thanks for the tip about the star jasmine...I have a beautiful planting of that.....or rather 'had'...I got a chap in to trim it for me who advertised himself as experienced....Oh Dear! He killed most of the vine by cutting it at ground level! Now its a brown horrible mess up a tall trellis and no privacy. I'm devastated. To make it worse the neighbour sits out on her back deck and calls out to me when I'm out there when before she couldn't see me.....I'm putting up atemporary reed screen...I think....would rather my star jasmine with the blackbirds nesting in it....I know the feeling of not jumping in in case one makes a regrettable mistake. I also had gardenias but once they get sick its not worth all the trouble. I've had to learn heaps about what plants are appropriate for my place and I've made some really silly mistakes too. I've never seen those cut laser panels before and am a bit intrigued. What are they used for,,outdoor lighting? That colourbond fence works really well as a privacy screen! You've done so much and have invested not only your hard-earned money but also your ideas! Hope you have some lovely times in your space....See MoreNeed ideas for the front yard and garden please
Comments (5)Your garden may have been done by now. But here's my bit of inspiration for you. Presuming your desire to keep path is because it is the entry to your house. 1. All along the front boundary, planting a living screen/hedge edged garden bed ... Murraya Panniculata (Flowers have tropical orange blossom scent) 2. The garden bed (under window) on the left hand side of path to become your tropical oasis of planting - consider mass for extra drama and lights along pathway leading to door. 3. Other side - the right hand side pathway ... Using width of "porch/pillar"area as guide, create an edged new garden bed and plant it up to your heart'[s content with tropical style, and in front of that and up to the Murrraya Panniculata hedging pave and create a usable courtyard - with table and chairs to enjoy a breakfast, or afternoon tea - and why not include a daybed for reading pleasure? 4. Imagine the view into the garden area from inside!!...See MoreFeature or select grade floorboards?
Comments (20)For what it's worth we have a cottage with one hundred years old timber floors – mainly not tongue and groove just beautiful boards that we pulled up, re-trimmed and relaid. The boards are just beautiful – and they are probably mainly spotted gum as we live amongst them and when the cottage was built they would have used the timber from the local mill. We chose a satin finish for them and they just glow – everyone who walks in exclaims about how lovely they are. When we built a modern extension a couple of years ago we were lucky enough to find some more old (maybe 60-70 years) floor boards that came out of an old shed that was being demolished – they looked beyond retrieval but they were lovely big, heavy boards so they had plenty of meat on them so once they had been re-trimmed and thicknessed they have been finished with the same satin finish and also look amazing. I love that they look like timber (once part of a tree, a living, growing, imperfect but wonderful organism) rather than looking timber-like....See MoreOutdoor marine grade mixer tap
Comments (3)Depends on the style you're after. What about using a basic brass garden tap if you're after something a bit industrial? Theres a few different styles and configurations. A local plumber could bend up the gooseneck out of copper as well....See MoreYardvaark
