Pastels go quite nicely in a country style kitchen and will accompany the subway tiles well.

Your new kitchen sounds heavenly. I've always admired images with soft blue walls, although I personally would probably choose safe white and accessorise accordingly..

I was going to say teal, I think it adds a bit of drama and depth. I'm currently planning to makeover my neices bedroom and am considering teal. (I attached a photo of the mood board, just in case it is of interest!,) The only thing is that I'm not sure what the teal would look like with the country kitchen cabinets.

Hi Emma, without seeing your kitchen, I would use Low sheen Black for a French Country Scandi look, you timber and white will work beautifully cheers

I think those soft blue wall with the white and timber in cloudpants pics look really nice and colour would give more of the country feel. Is the kitchen open to other rooms so you need to consider their colour?

Another vote for checking out Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper's style - her work is devine... Perhaps some floating timber shelves in lieu of no upper kitchen cupboards might also help to break up that tile wall? Also love Siri's suggestion of black :) Gorgeous!

The room is an extension on the lounge, coloured light grey. Lot of windows in the kitchen (one wall is mostly bifold doors). It's a big room (6mx4m). im starting to think it could easily be a darker colour as the area is very bright. Thanks everyone!

Here's a pic of a duck egg blue, goes well with the timber. I do like the grey/green that Irene has shown above though, especially the 3rd pic shown against the timber with a beautiful pink orchid.

I am goint o be the odd man out here.

I do not think the colour is as important as the lines.

The top picture looks very bland to tthe point of boring, yet is a nice room space. There I would be looking at putting the colour (whatever you choose, so long as it accommodates the beautiful floor) where the tiles are. In that one, I would be looking at replacing the tiles with something a bit "joyous" - a colour that really makes you feel good. I would also be looking for tiles that are irregular in shape (maybe fish scales or hexagons or laid in a pattern) or go for patterned tiles, like Middle Eastern style. That room needs some character.

The second photo leaves no option but to pick up the blue of the fridge, so adding a matching blue Smeg kettle to sit at the right of the window, or a vase or pot that reflects that colour would be good. Other that that, I would suggest changing the splash back behind the stove to a mirror one, A mirror would reflect the view from the window, splash light around & give a bit of pizzazz.

What ever you do, it would be nice to see the results

We have a country kitchen and used a teal blue for the walls. I adore it and everyone comments on how lovely and relaxing it is.

I'd go for either white or a pastel, such as light aqua, which goes beautifully with white/wood. Nothing dark, in any colour.

We have a wall of French doors at the end of the room, plus one other window, so I get plenty of light in there. The photos do appear much darker than in reality, so darkness is no problem at all, even in the middle of winter.

If you want to add some colour and interest why not try wallpaper? Especially as you have a lot of wall area, you could really make a statement. There are so many stunning easy-clean wallpapers out there and you could either stick with a subtle pattern in neutral or go for something really bold in pattern and colour! Porters have some good standard wallpapers (below, last image, is porters 'Nairobi' in a light blue) or try online for international suppliers.

I would keep the paint color soft and pale whether it be soft grey, blue or the lightest green.

White is never going to fade : ) or date! or be 'trending'. It's perenial. However if you wanted to introduce some warmth; I'd go with any soft-tone colour that I liked, but never grey. Or Pink ! And.. don't ask your painter.

So we're almost done... thinking we'll go a darker sort of grey, similar to rest of the house. but if you're interested in some country kitchen pics...
We JUST put the pendants up so the first photo is what we decided on. obviously so much more to do, We both work full time so slowly getting it all done!

I renovated my bathroom went to the local paint shop as I got a Haymes Greyology its fabulous has made such a difference to a dark area its like white with grey mixed in it Fabulous. I'm renovating my kitchen a 1950's weatherboard so I'll be asking Houzz soon too
