Comments (8)Congrats! My first observation is the brick looks "tired". I'm thinking it just needs a good cleaning. So the first thing I'd do is pressure wash the brick and I'll bet it will look prettier than it appears now. Plus, the newly cleaned brick may change your mind about colors to pick for the doors and trim. The second thing I'd suggest is a fabulous, updated modern front door. This will go a long way to give your home an upgrade. A door something like this style. After a washing and a new door you love it would be then time to decide on paint colors....See MoreAdvice for our new homes curb appeal
Comments (18)It all depends on how you want to use your front yard. I live on a corner block and in an old suburb in Canberra, where hedges are everywhere and for good reason, Privacy! You're front yard is a little more magical too when you aren't exposed to the street. I definitely would plant a tree in the corner so in time it overhangs and softens the driveway but please research the tree first or it could be a disaster. If you're not into hedges then garden beds at the front and around the corner, edging is a must, maybe a sculpture or garden feature not small but more of a statement piece. As already suggested, have a look at pictures on Houzz I'm sure you'll fall in love with something that suits you're lifestyle, and don't forget to add some soft garden lighting, good luck!...See MoreFront Facade - widening stairs, increasing curb appeal
Comments (18)Yes, I agree they are fairly narrow and I think practicality must trump original design in this regard. You can still remain true to the era, and simply widening the steps to flush with width of verandah will only improve upon the original design. I believe it will also future-proof the steps as I can imagine as people age, they sometimes require the firm arm of someone else to assist them safely up and down the stairs. I have to agree with Mel about the letterbox. IF you are set on mixing styles, then perhaps use the same timber you used for the letterbox to face facade (street facing) of new steps....See MoreHow can we improve our house curb appeal.
Comments (26)My suggestion is to first look at the steel curved based roof. If it was lined and In the same colour as the shingles(as is now or painted) there would be more balance. The limestone is so eco ‘organic’ and grounds the design. I like the the shakes as would be just lining in and same colour. Marine play would be ideal. Also a more flattering photo would help....See MoreDaisy S
