What do other Houzzers think of my lounge room colour scheme?
Comments (82)Ok, don't like the dark cushion, don't like the TV in the bedroom. You could go for pendant lighting using the same 'material' as the mirror? If you went for larger beside lamps while you have that mirror there, they would be fighting each other. In the programs I watch, they say to have 'a hero in the room'. In this case the mirror is the hero I think. Also the extra throw cushion for the bed could match one on the chair, so it ties in (or don't have one at all on the bed). If you did need a TV what about having one installed on the wall to the right of the chair,(looking at the photo) and make sure it can swivel out, so when you aren't watching TV in bed it can be against the wall, out of the way. Then you can have a lovely (glass) ornament or two, or a bunch of flowers sitting on it along with your photos. I love how you have your bed dressed, spot on! (without the dark cushion) I absolutely adore the blue shades in the duvet cover and I would draw those out into the room. Love that you have opened up your windows in the lounge. Maybe a throw rug and some colourful (same colours as in the duvet cover on your bed) cushions on the lounge suite as nothing is really popping! There doesn't seem to be any colour except for the flowers and the photos. Colourful paintings on the wall would be lovely too. Maybe the potted plants could be in coloured (as in your duvet cover) pots instead of white. I know you weren't asking about the lounge and if you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Well done....See MoreHi
Comments (1)@joannetaherne, Need some pictures and dimensions to help with some constructive advice from us houzzers. To get info on plunge pools and pools in general, all you need do is google to see what the local pool companies are offering. They will alway include dimensions etc... You also need to say if you have flat land, or live on a slope and if you have rocks and or ease of access to help install it. Also do you want it inground or on ground??? Once you google plunge pools, if you're lucky, you may get an arry of pictures to work out what you like too. Cheers, Barbara...See MoreCan houzzers help me renovate our 1980s kitchen?
Comments (28)Could you swap the fridge with the wall oven, going by your photo both fridge and Wall Oven would fit side by side. I would definately have the fridge on the cook top wall and not on the other side of the kitchen. I see by the photo that the timber beam could be in the way, I would speak to your plumber who should have a simple solution on ducting the range hood. A simple one built into a special cabinet above the cooktop can recirculate or be ducted outside by either exposed stainless tube for your industrial/country look or have the ducting boxed in, the ducting can be flexable so no problem avoiding beams....See MoreCan you identify the style of this Australian house?
Comments (11)Thanks for all the comments - appreciated. To answer some of your questions; 1. I am also wondering if it is possible the verandah is not original? Can you tell? Not sure, looks original. If the red bricks weren't there, then it's probably more Edwardian? 2. There any internal paneling to lower section of walls? No 3. The bay window is a decorative feature, but are any of the other windows double-hung? No 4. You might look to the neighbouring houses to get a clearer indication of style of your house as often they will share common design features. Do you have any original documentation or plans for the house? No. The street is mainly Cal Bung(double front with heavy posts) and Edwardians. From the comments, it sounds there are overlaps in style. The overall style looks Edwardian but the porch with the red brick posts looks like a smaller version of the typical Cal Bung heavy posts. The question is what does a single front or 1.5 front Californian Bungalow look like?(Do they even exist?) I've only seen double front Cal Bungs with heavy posts....See More- 10 years ago
