This traditionally styled kitchen was designed around the Aga, but the softly lit wine racks in walnut veneer add a contemporary touch. The floating walnut shelves balance the plasma tv screen, and this multi-functional space ensures this busy family spend time together. The bespoke larder allows all pantry items to be gathered in one place, with special storage for bread and snacks. The appliance garage ensures all surfaces are cleared of clutter, and the useful pop-up socket is used for charging mobile phones and laptops.

A fresh take on a French Provincial kitchen with a matching buffet & hutch was on order for this delightful Federation style cottage on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. With the warmth of a bygone era this kitchen does not lack the modern conveniences of contemporary living and offers a timeless solution for the homeowners. One of the main considerations for the homeowners, in the redesign of their kitchen, was to incorporate an integrated refrigerator. The new integrated Liebherr french door fridge with double freezer drawers fits seamlessly into the space, hidden behind matching cabinetry panels. The room is topped of with stunning textured granite benchtops on the main kitchen area and beautiful natural timber on the buffet and hutch. The Brief Designer Aron was tasked with creating the most of a wrap-around space in this Brighton property. For the project an on-trend theme was required, with traditional elements to suit the required style of the kitchen area. Every inch of space was to be used to fit all kitchen amenities, with plenty of storage and new flooring to be incorporated as part of the works. Design Elements To match the trendy style of this property, and the Classic theme required by this client, designer Aron has condured a traditional theme of sage green and oak. The sage green finish brings subtle colour to this project, with oak accents used in the window framing, wall unit cabinetry and built-in dresser storage. The layout is cleverly designed to fit the space, whilst including all required elements. Selected appliances were included in the specification of this project, with a reliable Neff Slide & Hide oven, built-in microwave and dishwasher. This client’s own Smeg refrigerator is a nice design element, with an integrated washing machine also fitted behind furniture. Another stylistic element is the vanilla noir quartz work surfaces that have been used in this space. These are manufactured by supplier Caesarstone and add a further allure to this kitchen space. Special Inclusions To add to the theme of the kitchen a number of feature units have been included in the design. Above the oven area an exposed wall unit provides space for cook books, with another special inclusion the furniture that frames the window. To enhance this feature Aron has incorporated downlights into the furniture for ambient light. Throughout these inclusions, highlights of oak add a nice warmth to the kitchen space. Beneath the stairs in this property an enhancement to storage was also incorporated in the form of wine bottle storage and cabinetry. Classic oak flooring has been used throughout the kitchen, outdoor conservatory and hallway. Project Highlight The highlight of this project is the well-designed dresser cabinet that has been custom made to fit this space. Designer Aron has included glass fronted cabinetry, drawer and cupboard storage in this area which adds important storage to this kitchen space. For ambience downlights are fitted into the cabinetry. The End Result The outcome of this project is a great on-trend kitchen that makes the most of every inch of space, yet remaining spacious at the same time. In this project Aron has included fantastic flooring and lighting improvements, whilst also undertaking a bathroom renovation at the property. Our client chose a Lacanche Cluny 100 range for their traditional kitchen in Muswell Hill. The range becomes a feature in the kitchen as the colour is a contrast to the Shaker cupboards surrounding it. The cabinets are painted in Little Greene's 'Welcome Dark'. Our client chose to have the worktop material SG Carrara quartz run up to the extractor.

The ceiling in the kitchen at the back has been removed and a large Velux roof light has been added to give more light into this kitchen-diner. The kitchen has a dark grey slate tile floor, and the dining area still retains its original floorboards, which have been sanded and oiled. The existing chimney and fireplace surround has been carefully repointed. Photography by Michael Schienke

Kitchens U BuildKitchens U Build
Kitchens U Build Design has been creating innovative and functional rooms for over 10 years. Kitchens U Build was recently presented with a brief asking them to create a spacious, light-filled multi-angled room over an existing swimming pool. The design of the kitchen had to remain in tune with the house and its surroundings, while pertaining to a growing family. Situated on a hill overlooking the bay, the room was built in an unusual hexagonal shape to take full advantage of the spectacular views available, so the kitchen needed to fit within the rest of the home and not intrude on the space. In order to comply with the brief that requested functionality for a growing family, the kitchen needed to incorporate storage where possible, but still exhibit an element of luxury and remain within the budget. The end result is a kitchen that is completely user-friendly, with Marble bench tops and an open-plan design, as well as adequate cabinet space to give an air of opulence that defies its price tag. Kitchens U Build is a family-run, Australian-owned company with a reputation for offering the highest standard of service and reliability at exceptional rates. Do-it-yourself options are available, or the company can install the project for you.

This Shaker kitchen is very compact. The main cooking area is in this alcove section of the combined kitchen and dining room, with an integrated Neff fridge freezer on the right. There are plenty of wall cabinets to give our client enough storage space in the small space. The sink is on the island which is slightly more towards the dining area as the alcove was too narrow to have an island placed within it. The cabinets are painted in 'Welcome Dark' by Little Greene whilst the handles are from the Cotswold range by Armac Martin.
