Walsh-Wykes House
The Walsh-Wykes House is a multi-residential project located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, designed to accommodate extended family living within a cohesive architectural framework. The duplex form maximises a narrow coastal site, balancing privacy, shared connection, and orientation to the ocean beyond.
The project integrates layered outdoor spaces—including a central courtyard and coastal-facing balconies—that offer both ventilation and light while maintaining a strong relationship with the landscape. Internally, a refined material palette of timber, glass, and stone enhances a sense of calm, with an emphasis on detail, light, and flow between levels.
A central design move was the inclusion of a basement car turntable, allowing vehicle access and storage without compromising the pedestrian or garden experience at street level. This gesture complements a broader planning approach that elevates everyday living through subtle architectural moves.
