1. A breakfast bar overhangKitchen islands with bar stools are must-have commodities in modern kitchens. These breakfast bars are the perfect way to separate the living area from the kitchen, while maintaining an open living environment. Parents can cook dinner and keep one eye on their kids as they do homework, and friends can sit and have a glass of wine while their hosts cook. If you are planning to include a breakfast bar in your kitchen, ensure you include an overhang on your island. This will provide legroom for those sitting on the bar stools. Anywhere between 12-19 inches overhang on the back side of the island will ensure the sitters are comfortable.12 breakfast bars that give cafés a run for their money
3. BlackbuttEucalyptus pilularisBlackbutt is a good plantation timber due to its quick growth and versatility. The hardwood timber is commonly available in NSW and southern Queensland where it’s often used for building framework. The common name blackbutt comes from the tree’s appearance after bushfire when the buttress (or butt) is significantly darker. Colour: Blackbutt ranges in colour from cream to pale brown, sometimes with a slight tinge of pink.
Thinking behind the arrangement of furnitureThe design was restricted by the desire to keep the existing, hardwearing stainless-steel benchtop. The homeowner also wanted her children to be able to eat at the breakfast bar. The cabinet design includes many inner drawers (which can’t been seen in the photos). These help the family get organised and make the best use of the space. Open boxes break up the space and allow the display of artwork and cookbooks. LED downlights inside the open boxes enhance the display.
