Pasco has explained clearly the reasoning, but in case you didn’t catch it…..in historically significant neighbourhoods it is not ok to ”pretend” that new is old and create confusion about which is which, new work should be ”of today”. This seems pretty reasonable and does not require ”lobbying of council”. If that style is not for you, you need to go outside of historically important areas and you will have more freedom to ”pretend” what you want.

Perhaps the councils need to go outside of "historically important areas" if that is their stance. Totally agree with all the comments - these beautiful historical homes look like they back on to an industrial complex and factories because of the mismatch of style. The street appeal is ruined for those homes where you can visibly see the industrial/modern extension in the rear.

Councils have become crazy. It’s not like that many houses are of “historical significance” unless you apply it to anything that is already existing. I agree that number 5 is the only one that does not look like an alien addition.
