1. Comfort is key
If you use your desk every day, choose something that has plenty of legroom and space to spread out on top.

2. Size does matter
Before you choose a desk for your home office, make a list of all the things you need it to hold. Include everything from important files and folders to your monitor, keyboard and mouse, and don’t forget your coffee cup! Carefully calculate how big a desk you’ll need, and then buy a bigger one!

Before you choose a desk, consider exactly what you need it for and how often you’ll use it. For occasional users with limited space, a simple bench like this one might do the trick. There are also some fabulous lecterns and portable computer desks on the market that can be wheeled in and out of alcoves or cupboards as they’re needed.

4. Consider an ergonomic model
These can be adjusted to the height that best suits you and allow you to work in either a sitting or standing position. They’re especially good for artists and interior designers who need to stand back to look at colours and layouts. Working on your feet can also be a great health choice.
