Don't forget a water point if a bar/drinks area is being included near the kitchen or living area. These spots are also great to put a coffee machine and it's handy to have water near these.

Having a tap above the stove for a stockpot doesn't solve the problem of moving the pot once cooking is done. It won't lose enough liquid from evaporation to make much difference to the weight. Is this an example of form over function and keeping up with trends?

This is not actually in the main kitchen, but many houses now have an outdoor area and outdoor kichen directly out side the main one. This would be a good place for planning a water connection also.
