We left a whole wall open for art and hanging costumes, jackets, and bags. We used birch tree hooks to add a natural texture to the space. The tiny closet under the stairs is perfect for the play kitchen. Inside we stored the grocery cart, baby carriage, and baskets of plush toys as well. Photo by Brian Kelly

With varying and coordinated patterns and shades of pink, this ultra-feminine bedroom is the perfect refuge for a petite princess. The unique bunk bed offers plenty of storage space for toys and collections while its large size fills the volume of a 12-foot vaulted ceiling, creating a more intimate ambiance. A nature theme flows throughout the room; crisp white paint emphasizes stunning architectural details of the arched window.

This second-story addition to an already 'picture perfect' Naples home presented many challenges. The main tension between adding the many 'must haves' the client wanted on their second floor, but at the same time not overwhelming the first floor. Working with David Benner of Safety Harbor Builders was key in the design and construction process – keeping the critical aesthetic elements in check. The owners were very 'detail oriented' and actively involved throughout the process. The result was adding 924 sq ft to the 1,600 sq ft home, with the addition of a large Bonus/Game Room, Guest Suite, 1-1/2 Baths and Laundry. But most importantly — the second floor is in complete harmony with the first, it looks as it was always meant to be that way. ©Energy Smart Home Plans, Safety Harbor Builders, Glenn Hettinger Photography

A typical post-1906 Noe Valley house is simultaneously restored, expanded and redesigned to keep what works and rethink what doesn’t. The front façade, is scraped and painted a crisp monochrome white—it worked. The new asymmetrical gabled rear addition takes the place of a windowless dead end box that didn’t. A “Great kitchen”, open yet formally defined living and dining rooms, a generous master suite, and kid’s rooms with nooks and crannies, all make for a newly designed house that straddles old and new. Inquire About Our Design Services My youngest client ever! I met this 4 year old's parents when they had me over to take a look at their on going living room project. After working on a couple of spaces in their West Loop building, they had come to know me and my work. We started, instead, with the daughters room. It was a total blank slate. They parents wanted something girly, but not pink, youthful but not toddler, and vintage but not traditional. I understood exactly what this room needed.
