This private residence is modeled after the working Palladian villas of the 16th century. This new home is carefully tucked into an agrarian vineyard setting at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Specific technical and aesthetic details were the result of careful research–both in the library and on the ground in Italy. Walls are plastered in marmorino (a centuries-old technique that adds marble dust to the plaster mixture) and the floors are covered in terra cotta tiles imported from Italy. Ceilings are vaulted plaster or wood timbers. The exterior is a traditional plaster that incorporates crushed brick and stone that compliments the Vicenza stone detailing at the porches and around the doors and windows. Skilled craftsman from Venice and Salerno were employed for the terra cotta, architectural stone, carved stone, roman brick, interior marmorino plaster and exterior stucco work. This loft bedroom was the big seeling point for the owners of this new build home. The vast space has such a perfect opportunity for storage space and has been utilised with these gorgeous traditional shaker-style wardrobes. The super king-sized bed is in a striking teal shade taking from the impressive wall mural that gives the space a bit of personal flair and warmth.

We had so much fun with this project! The client wanted a bedroom refresh as they had not done much to it since they had moved in 5 years ago. As a space you are in every single night (and day!), your bedroom should be a place where you can relax and enjoy every minute. We worked with the clients favorite color (navy!) to create a beautiful blue grasscloth textured wall behind their bed to really make their furniture pop and add some dimension to the room. New lamps in their favorite finish (gold!) were added to create additional lighting moments when the shades go down. Adding beautiful sheer window treatments allowed the clients to keep some softness in the room even when the blackout shades were down. Fresh bedding and some new accessories were added to complete the room.

This gorgeous primary bedroom got a whole new look with a fresh color palette. We painted the entire room (and ceiling) a soft white called Night Blooming Jasmine by Behr. The accent wall was painted in Asphalt Gray by Behr. We updated the bedding, installed new curtains, curtain rod, tiebacks, rug, accent chair, nightstands, ceiling fan, and accent decor. Additionally, I painted a custom 5' x 4' abstract painting for the wall by the bed. This room has an incredibly calm and peaceful feeling without sacrificing sophistication and style.
