Nonetheless, it was custom designed and hand made by Dynamic Garage Door's skilled designers and experienced craftsmen. Working with centuries-old reclaimed wood is a skill that requires a taste for the finer things in life much like aged wine. We strive to conserve the authentic and natural characteristics that mother nature has given every piece of lumber we collect from our supplying lumber yards in California. Our rustic style gates are intricately crafted to showcase the charming characteristics of the century-old wood used to fabricate our gates. This particular gate was made by hand using reclaimed oak wood, a species that commonly yields earthy brown tones that played well with this home's existing rock walls and natural landscaping. Beefy knocker pulls were used to decorate and reinforce that rough, rustic appearance you would find on doors located in the Tuscan Riviera. Our designer, Mario Collazo, pulled his knowledge of authentic Tuscan architecture fusing it together with the home's existing color scheme and surfaces as an art canvas to further elaborate and enhance the home's Tuscan architectural taste. This bespoke pergola was inspired by the colours and aesthetics of the client’s home, a stunning grade II listed 17th century property set within a small hamlet in St Albans. The brief was to create an outdoor area that would work socially and house a dining/BBQ area whilst providing protection from the elements. We used a small, mild steel profile to construct an elegant frame that supports a flat roof of 16mm twin wall polycarbonate roof which naturally provides shelter in wet weather. We included a 50x25mm Iroko timber batten soffit to introduce horizontal lines as a decorative feature that are spaced apart to let natural light through into the dining area. The inclusion of our bespoke pivoting shutters was to offer solar shading in a variety of positions, especially against the evening sun.

All these are actually quite hardy plants, so once established, your tropical garden is actually quite easy to maintain. Use this structure and apply it to your style. Research which plants you need to set your base for a garden and go from there.

Add some decor

If the plants don’t quite do it for you yet, or if you want to add some extra wow-factor, consider adding some extra features. Even if you can’t accommodate a swimming pool, hot tub or pond, you could look at smaller water features. Simple rocks can also have a great effect, while statues and gnomes will add some extra character. Don’t forget to add some furniture so you have a nice place to sit and enjoy your garden!
