This custom fountain/cement pond was custom-created for a family that wanted the enjoyment of watching and listening to the water, as well as being able to get in. The fountain provides a naturalized screen from the driveway turnaround and meanders down the hillside leading to the wading pool. Pretty to look at, and a lovely walk too.

This challenging site near Wolf Trap had an existing swimming pool at the end of the property. With twelve feet of grade change across the backyard, our landscape design dilemma was; how to connect the new pool with the house, create lots of living space, and still get people to the landscape below. The entire rear of the house was renovated, giving us an opportunity to build a new composite multi-level deck. We crafted a covered living space under the deck and sunroom. Techo-Bloc pavers, a stone dive rock at the deep end and the natural stream bed with waterfalls that cascades into the pool.

After enduring extensive damage in the 1994 Northridge earthquake, this house was re-imagined and expanded for an active Los Angeles family. Though the architecture was rooted in a traditional manner, the house was given a more modern and clean lined experience on the inside.
