- We live in inner city Melbourne, VIC in Australia. We're building a studio apartment on the first floor at the back of an 1890's commercial bldg. The light will come from skylights as brick walls are fragile. To get max. light we hope to install a steel-frame glass wall along the bathroom and stairwell.. Two Melbourne companies make steel frame windows but will cost all our arms and legs. We're advised to do it in wood instead. We are inspired by the frankly stunning architecture on this site and wonder if it is possible to create a frame without the glass and ship to an glazier here who could finish the job and install it.
Also we need a colonial window (locally, this means comprised of smaller panes) facing the stairs in a hardwood 1315w x 2110h. Pref not cedar as it's food for cockatoos. Any suggestions gratefully received. Kind regards & gorgeous pics, Miss P.
