French Country Wet Bar

Traditional Wine Cellar, Boston

Behind the wall of the formal living room is this hidden jewel - this custom-designed wet bar with a barrel vault ceiling. Finely detailed custom cabinetry and luxury fixtures bring the formal elegance of the living room into the wet bar area. A custom-made door seamlessly blends the refrigerated wine storage with the rest of the cabinetry. Glass-paned cabinet doors on the top cabinets showcase the sparkle of fine crystal within. WKD’s design brief was to infuse graceful grandeur for entertaining into this former 1907 stable and carriage house. One would imagine that the carriage house held, at least to some degree, historic and beautiful architectural details. However, this was not the case. Everything – architectural moldings, flooring, hardware, etc. - were designed and fabricated to the designer’s specifications. The home features a stunning French-style salon, elaborate adjacent dining room, a handsome paneled library, a Tuscan inspired gourmet kitchen and dining area, a wet bar, a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace, and a stunning master bath. The project has received numerous regional and national awards and has been published several times. I like that this is a room and not just the bar in an open room.
