The lower ground floor of the house has witnessed the greatest transformation. A series of low-ceiling rooms were knocked-together, excavated by a couple of feet, and extensions constructed to the side and rear.
A large open-plan space has thus been created. The kitchen is located at one end, and overlooks an enlarged lightwell with a new stone stair accessing the front garden; the dining area is located in the centre of the space.

A dining space is an asset in any apartment, but it needs to work hard to earn its place! Here, the table is beautifully slim, so it doesn’t overwhelm the room, yet still provides space for everything from homework to entertaining. A flexible mix of chairs and a bench can seat a crowd, while the elegant console table and wall units provide valuable storage and help the room feel properly fleshed out. A simple coir rug is the finishing touch, anchoring the dining set and highlighting the flowing route around the room.

We built in a window seat bench (with handy storage inside) in the bay window for optimum use of the space and a handy dining nook. The roman blinds add a nice touch with the other soft furnishings.
