Great Ayton
Rustic Garden
The back garden has been completely redesigned. A zig-zag path has been cut in the existing lawn, with metal edging for crispness as well as reducing maintenance. A new patio allows for comfortable seating in the sun. A raised timber bed creates interest by changing the level of the planting, as well as additional seating.
The planting is full and colourful: shrubs, evergreen perennials and climbers provide structure, while perennials and lavenders fill the generous beds and provide interest throughout the year. An Amelanchier 'Obelisk' at the end of the garden signals Spring with its many white flowers, followed by bright green foliage which turns red and yellow in the Autumn. Further seasonal colour is provided by the red bark and yellow foliage of Acer 'Sangokaku' (left).
