This stately, Chestnut Hill, circa 1890, brick home sits on idyllic grounds of mature planting.
Our objective was to integrate the new with the old world charm of the property. We achieved this with additional plantings, seasonal color, restoring and adding masonry walls and steps as well as the installation of an elegant eurocobble drive and courtyard.

The driveway on this lovely Palo Alto site does triple duty as a garden, a patio, and a functional drive. The overhead wisteria is grown on cables supported by the house and iron posts along the driveway, and gives an aura of seclusion to the back garden. An arbor built across the front of the garage creates a garden cottage effect, while the mural on the garage doors extend the garden scene into the distance, expanding the space. The brick patterns add another layer of detail and enhances the view from the house.

Wagner Residence
North Ferrisburgh, Vermont
Keith Wagner drew from his love of flat land and open sky when it came to selecting a site and designing his own home. The resulting assembly of wood and metal outbuildings forms a minimalist compound containing a main house, guest house, painting studio and sculpture studio. The outbuildings are organized by and contained within a datum of low concrete walls, a tree bosque, hedgerows and a crushed stone sculpture court. The architecture gives way to the landscape and allows visitors to focus on nature. Keith's own large spherical sculptures dot the landscape and evoke the rolled hay bales seen across the New England landscape.

A low maintenance, easy care selection of tough perennials offering a long season of interest and flowers.
The incentive for this planting space is to hide a long series of septic tank covers. They've completely disappeared under this sea of Willowleaf Amsonia, Salvia, Coneflowers, tall Henry Eilers Rudbeckia, and Prairie Dropseed.
