Hove | 1960's Modernised Galley Kitchen

Contemporary Kitchen, Sussex

This project is situated in the famous Victoria Court, which is a purpose-built block of flats constructed in the mid-1960s. The client wanted to be sympathetic to the period of the property & for the kitchen to have honest materials. It was important to him that the view of Brighton was the Focal point of the design. Tim achieved this by removing the wall units and including a ‘beam’ strip lighting in the ceiling to draw the gaze to the view. Further emphasis on the view was achieved by the use of a BORA downdraft extractor for a minimalistic look & Tim added clever storage space with the stainless steel light & utensil rails. This project was one of the first to use the new ‘Fenix’ finish from LEICHT, which is a scratch, and fingerprint-less ‘smart laminate’ with surface healing properties. The worktop is 12mm Corian, in a seagrass green, complimenting the Olive units, and contrasting the Burnt orange of the Marmoleum Flooring.
