We built a large banquette seating area in the open plan dining area of the broken plan kitchen our Wandsworth Common Family Home. We also added sliding Crittal style aluminium doors, oak parquet flooring and dramatic wall lights.

OWN LONDON has completed a sensitive two-year renovation of a five-storey listed townhouse in London’s Knightsbridge, blending historic character with modern family living.
The design preserves original features such as grand staircases, sash windows, and ornate mouldings, while introducing contemporary finishes like polished plaster, bold marble, and custom joinery.
Two identical master suites on the first and second floors each have private terraces, bathrooms, and dressing areas, one clad in antique mirrors, the
other in suede panelling. The third-floor children’s bedrooms feature matching trundle beds and bespoke carpets for comfort and style.
The ground floor offers elegant living and dining spaces. The lower ground floor includes a relaxed family room with banquette seating, staff quarters, and a guest powder room detailed with reeded marble. This level opens to a private courtyard framed by brick arches and mirrored walls, creating a secluded oasis.
OWN LONDON expertly marries heritage and contemporary design, crafting a timeless home for modern family life.

The room was used as a home office, by opening the kitchen onto it, we've created a warm and inviting space, where the family loves gathering.

Another view I've not shared before of our extension project in Maida Vale, West London. I think this shot truly reveals the glass 'skylight' ceiling which gives the dining area such a wonderful 'outdoor-in' experience. The brief for the family home was to design a rear extension with an open-plan kitchen and dining area. The bespoke banquette seating with a soft grey fabric offers plenty of room for the family and provides useful storage under the seats. And the sliding glass doors by @maxlightltd open out onto the garden.

This wide-angle view captures the seamless open-plan flow between kitchen, dining, and living areas — a space designed for modern family living while celebrating the home’s period bones. The layout is anchored by exposed red brick columns, which create gentle thresholds between zones without disrupting light or openness.
The kitchen is calm and elegant, with light grey shaker cabinetry, marble-effect countertops, and a pair of brass dome pendant lights that lend a warm metallic accent above the breakfast bar. Classic touches like the butler-style sink, open shelving, and a vintage wall clock give the space character and familiarity, while slim bar stools with timber seats echo the dining table’s materials for visual consistency.
The dining area extends toward the garden with curved black-framed French doors, offering framed views of greenery and a strong indoor-outdoor connection. A bespoke oak dining table and benches reinforce the room’s laid-back tone, while classic crown mouldings and subtle colour shifts across the walls maintain cohesion.
Together, these spaces feel inviting, layered, and tailored — a home equally suited for quiet evenings and entertaining at scale.

The corner window In the dining room is a fantastic architectural feature to:
Bring the Garden Inside
Maximize Views: The corner window eliminates a solid corner in the room, giving panoramic views of the garden.
Blur Boundaries: It visually dissolves the barrier between indoors and outdoors, making the garden feel like a natural extension of the interior.

The brief was to create something purely distinctive, a space with its own identity that can be truly enjoyed and lived in; conjuring memories, passions, and personal moments

A significant extension was constructed to accommodate a spacious kitchen-dining area, a cosy living room, a utility room, and a plant room.
The view of the garden is breathtaking throughout all seasons.

This dining area becomes a celebration of light, symmetry, and seamless connection to the outdoors. A series of black-framed French doors arranged in a gentle curve define the architecture of the space, opening generously onto the landscaped garden beyond. These doors act as tall picture frames for nature, bringing in abundant natural light and creating a strong visual rhythm against the pale sage walls.
At the centre, a solid oak dining table with matching benches and upholstered chairs anchors the space in relaxed elegance. The tactile quality of the wood and neutral-toned upholstery keeps the atmosphere casual yet refined — perfect for both everyday meals and larger gatherings.
The stone-effect flooring continues from the living space, maintaining cohesion and a grounded natural tone. Overhead, a globe pendant light introduces a sculptural element without overwhelming the view.
Exposed red brick columns at the transition between spaces add warmth and texture, subtly referencing the home’s original materials and offering a counterpoint to the softness of the dining zone. This space is all about balance — between indoor comfort and outdoor openness, architectural formality and laid-back family life.
