Through the magic of wine cellar vapor barrier and insulation, the design build team at Vintage Cellars was able to properly prepare this outbuilding to store over 1700 collectible wines. Working closely with the client, we were able to understand that although display is nice - uncompromising long term storage was the overarching goal. Sweeping throughout the room above, individual bottle storage reigns to maximize bottle count. At about chest height, you can see two rows of angled high reveal display. Here, the homeowner placed his prized bottles - just a glimpse of what this incredible collection holds. Directly in the center of this medium sized wine room lies a small peninsula - a small section jetting out where larger format bottles are kept atop, as well as more space below in individual bottle storage. A small tabletop can be utilized to open wines or to let your favorites decant while you peruse the gems throughout. Below again is more individual bottle storage, sitting atop gorgeous Mediterranean style tile. The wine cellar capacity is 1,230 bottles, using elegant Sapele Mahogany, finished with a walnut stain and furniture grade satin finish to protect the wood and provide a beautiful look and feel. The cellar is refrigerated by a fully ducted CellarPro 4200VSi self-contained cooling unit that is located in the attic. By ducting the cooling unit, the cellar gained additional racking capacity, and benefited from a cleaner aesthetic inside the cellar. Photo by Charles Lauersdorf

This project was built with the intent of creating an "old world" wine cellar space with contemporary wine storage. The client owns a wine vineyard in France, therefore we incorporated the French Limestone. We also had the logo of the clients Vineyard etched into a custom granite piece, keeping subtle hints of his passion throughout the space.
