We designed the children’s rooms based on their needs. Sandy woods and rich blues were the choice for the boy’s room, which is also equipped with a custom bunk bed, which includes large steps to the top bunk for additional safety. The girl’s room has a pretty-in-pink design, using a soft, pink hue that is easy on the eyes for the bedding and chaise lounge. To ensure the kids were really happy, we designed a playroom just for them, which includes a flatscreen TV, books, games, toys, and plenty of comfortable furnishings to lounge on! This remodel was so much fun! Our client's 10 year old daughter wanted to change her bright pink horse themed room into her shades of peach woodland creatures "big girl" room. We love all of the textures and the new layout, which provided space for a reading area. A fresh new look for a super cute kid!

The daughter wanted to be a princess, but her mom definitely didn't want it too sweet. Maya added the cabinets and paneled the wall behind the bed with beadboard. When you have a bed against a wall in a child's room, you are going to get tons of handprints on the walls because that is where all the kids are going to hang out. Beadboard can be easily wiped down. It was also a way of adding architecture to a room that was basically a plain box. The daughter might want completely different colors when she's a teenager, but now the bones of the room are in place, so she's all set.

The challenge in this room was to create good head-height whilst maintaining the roof line. I convinced the client to put the master bedroom in the roof to create a sanctuary away from the rest of the house and the kids in the rooms below. During the build we uncovered the triangle in the wall and decided to create a feature of it. Now the client loves sleeping within the alcove and special loft bed was sourced to sit under it.
