Our balcony idea was to turn unused winter balcony with the stunning view over the London, into a fully functional room, that can be use in multiply ways, for work, evening drinks, or for a morning coffee.
This balcony design induces all year green plants, accent lighting, outdoor rug and furniture that can not only withstand sun exposure, but also give the balcony real home feel.
We used contemporary style in the balcony design to match the minimlaistic city architecture of the building.

Simply Home Decorating
The rooms in this compact and colourful family home feel spacious thanks to soaring ceilings and large windows. The bold artwork served as inspiration for the decor of the home's tiny main floor that includes a front entrance, living room, dining room and kitchen all in just under 600 square feet. This home is featured in the Spring 2013 issue of Canadian Home Trends Magazine. Interior Design by Lori Steeves of Simply Home Decorating.

Adding stripes to the front door added some personality to the entryway. Being a renter, I didn't want to paint so I took advantage of the fact that my front door is metal and used magnetic material to stick on the stripes.. You could also use wall decals as another easy on/off solution. Here's how I made my stripes: http://www.engineeryourspace.com/episodes/how-to-decorate-an-entryway/

Light & Bright
New York snowbirds redesigned their Miami Beach apartment to take advantage of the tropical lifestyle.
New York snowbirds redesigned their Miami Beach apartment to take advantage of the tropical lifestyle.
WHEN INTERIOR DESIGNER JENNIFER CORREDOR was asked to recreate a four-bedroom, six-bath condominium at The Bath Club in Miami Beach, she seized the opportunity to open the rooms and better utilize the vast ocean views.
In five months last year, the designer transformed a dark and closed 5,000-square-foot unit located on a high floor into a series of sweeping waterfront spaces and updated the well located apartment into a light and airy retreat for a sports-loving family of five.
“They come down from New York every other weekend and wanted to make their waterfront home a series of grand open spaces,” says Jennifer Corrredor, of the J. Design Group in Miami, a firm specializing in modern and contemporary interiors. “Since many of the rooms face the ocean, it made sense to open and lighten up the home, taking advantage of the awesome views of the sea and the bay.”
The designer used 40 x 40 all white tile throughout the apartment as a clean base. This way, her sophisticated use of color would stand out and bring the outdoors in.
The close-knit family members—two parents and three boys in college—like to do things together. But there were situations to overcome in the process of modernizing and opening the space. When Jennifer Corredor was briefed on their desires, nothing seemed too daunting. The confident designer was ready to delve in. For example, she fixed an area at the front door
that was curved. “The wood was concave so I straightened it out,” she explains of a request from the clients. “It was an obstacle that I overcame as part of what I do in a redesign. I don’t consider it a difficult challenge. Improving what I see is part of the process.”
She also tackled the kitchen with gusto by demolishing a wall. The kitchen had formerly been enclosed, which was a waste of space and poor use of available waterfront ambience. To create a grand space linking the kitchen to the living room and dining room area, something had to go. Once the wall was yesterday’s news, she relocated the refrigerator and freezer (two separate appliances) to the other side of the room. This change was a natural functionality in the new open space. “By tearing out the wall, the family has a better view of the kitchen from the living and dining rooms,” says Jennifer Corredor, who also made it easier to walk in and out of one area and into the other. “The views of the larger public space and the surrounding water are breathtaking.
Opening it up changed everything.”
They clients can now see the kitchen from the living and dining areas, and at the same time, dwell in an airy and open space instead of feeling stuck in a dark enclosed series of rooms. In fact, the high-top bar stools that Jennifer Corredor selected for the kitchen can be twirled around to use for watching TV in the living room.
In keeping with the theme of moving seamlessly from one room to the other, Corredor designed a subtle wall of glass in the living room along with lots of comfortable seating. This way, all family members feel at ease while relaxing, talking, or watching sporting events on the large flat screen television. “For this room, I wanted more open space, light and a supreme airy feeling,” she says. “With the glass design making a statement, it quickly became the star of the show.”…….
….. To add texture and depth, Jennifer Corredor custom created wood doors here, and in other areas of the home. They provide a nice contrast to the open Florida tropical feel. “I added character to the openness by using exotic cherry wood,” she says. “I repeated this throughout the home and it works well.”
Known for capturing the client’s vision while adding her own innovative twists, Jennifer Corredor lightened the family room, giving it a contemporary and modern edge with colorful art and matching throw pillows on the sofas. She added a large beige leather ottoman as the center coffee table in the room. This round piece was punctuated with a bold-toned flowering plant atop. It effortlessly matches the pillows and colors of the contemporary canvas.
Jennifer Corredor also gutted all of the bathrooms, resulting in a major redesign of the master. She jettisoned the whirlpool and created the dazzling illusion of a floating tub. From an area where there were two toilets, she eliminated one to make a grand rectangular shower, which became an overall showpiece. The master bath went from being just a functional water closet to a sophisticated spa-like space. “The client said I was ‘delicious’ after seeing the change,” laughed Jennifer Corredor, who emphasized that her clients love their part-time life in South Florida more each time they come down. Even when the husband has to work from their Miami Beach digs, he is surrounded by tropical beauty. For instance, there are times when the master bedroom must double as the husband’s home office.
The room had to be large enough to accommodate a working space for this purpose. So Jennifer Corredor placed an appropriate table near the window and across from the king-size bed. “No blocking of the amazing water view was necessary,” she says. “I kept an open space with a lot of white so It functions well and the work space fits right in.” She repeated the bold modern art in the room as well as in the guest bedroom, which also has a workspace for the sons when they are home from school and need to study.
The designer is still happy and glowing with the results of her toil in this apartment. She gets a “spiritual feeling” when she walks inside. “It is so peaceful and serene, with subtle hints of explosive statements,” she says. “The entire space is open, yet anchored by the warmth of the exotic woods.” The client wrote Jennifer Corredor a letter at the end of the project congratulating her on a
job well done. She revealed that owning a Miami Beach home was her husband’s dream 30 years ago. “Now we have a quality perfect yet practical home,” she wrote to the designer. “You solved the challenges, and the end
result far exceeds our expectations. We love it.”

Ancient Surfaces
Project: Palazzo Margherita Bernalda Restoration
Elements used: Encaustic Tiles, Antique Limestone, antique stone fountain, antique stone fireplace.
Discover the cuisine, wines and history of the Basilicata region at the luxurious Palazzo Margherita. Set in the village of Bernalda, the well-preserved villa is close to the region’s white-sand beaches and the famed Sassi caves. The property was recently renovated by the Coppola family with decorator Jacques Grange, imbuing its luxurious traditional interiors with modern style.
Start each day of your stay with an included breakfast, then head out to read in the courtyard garden, lounge under an umbrella on the terrace by the pool or sip a mimosa at the al-fresco bar. Have dinner at one of the outdoor tables, then finish the evening in the media room. The property also has its own restaurant and bar, which are open to the public but separate from the house.
Traditional architecture, lush gardens and a few modern furnishings give the villa the feel of a grand old estate brought back to life. In the media room, a vaulted ceiling with ornate moldings speaks to the home’s past, while striped wallpaper in neutral tones is a subtly contemporary touch. The eat-in kitchen has a dramatically arched Kronos stone ceiling and a long, welcoming table with bistro-style chairs.
The nine suite-style bedrooms are each decorated with their own scheme and each have en-suite bathrooms, creating private retreats within the palazzo. There are three bedrooms with queen beds on the garden level; all three have garden access and one has a sitting area. Upstairs, there are six bedrooms with king beds, all of which have access to either a Juliet balcony, private balcony or furnished terrace.
From Palazzo Margherita’s location in Bernalda, it’s a 20-minute drive to several white-sand beaches on the Ionian Sea.

DANIELLE Interior Design & Decor
This gray and white family kitchen has touches of gold and warm accents. The Diamond Cabinets that were purchased from Lowes are a warm grey and are accented with champagne gold Atlas cabinet hardware. The Taj Mahal quartzite countertops have a nice cream tone with veins of gold and gray. The mother or pearl diamond mosaic tile backsplash by Jeffery Court adds a little sparkle to the small kitchen layout. The island houses the glass cook top with a stainless steel hood above the island. The white appliances are not the typical thing you see in kitchens these days but works beautifully.

The Designory
This young family home is a terrace house nestled in the back streets of Paddington. The project brief was to reinterpret the interior layouts of an approved DA renovation for the young family. The home was a major renovation with the The Designory providing design and documentation consultancy to the clients and completing all of the interior design components of the project as well as assisting with the building project management. The concept complimented the traditional features of the home, pairing this with crisp, modern sensibilities. Keeping the overall palette simple has allowed the client’s love of colour to be injected throughout the decorating elements. With functionality, storage and space being key for the small house, clever design elements and custom joinery were used throughout. With the final decorating elements adding touches of colour in a sophisticated yet luxe palette, this home is now filled with light and is perfect for easy family living and entertaining.

Contemporary with warmth and comfort. This condo, located in a delightfully busy San Francisco neighborhood needed a total renovation of the existing space.
On the first floor the main living area including a small den, living room, dining area and kitchen needed to be updated. The challenge was to achieve the maximum of comfort, understated elegance and functionality in a small space that would be appropriate for the couple’s everyday life.
On the second floor,
On the first floor, the style is quiet and sophisticated with clean, simple lines made sumptuous with rich materials.
The original kitchen was closed off from the rest of the living space but in the renovation, the kitchen becomes the focal point of the main living area. Opening the kitchen gives the entire condominium a spacious feeling and allows natural light to enter the kitchen.
The simple flush lines of the elegant cabinetry create a harmonious rhythm set off by glass, which has been hand etched in a pattern of leaves and branches that mimic the trees visible through the windows. The patterned glass is also used in the pantry door, and allows light from pantry windows to enter the kitchen. Located near the front entry to the condo, the bar counter, a large hardwood plank with a strong grain and deep color adds a striking textural element.
On the second floor, changing the master bath was essential. The original layout with the bath tub and toilet on one side of the room and a wall length cabinet with a sink on the opposite wall was adequate but uninteresting. The finishes were uninviting.
A portion of an adjacent closet was taken over to enlarge the space. The toilet was moved into the new space allowing the addition of a gracious shower separate from the soaking tub. The wall adjacent to the hallway was also moved out to form a pleasing angle adding space and interest. It also allowed for an angled built-in closet system in the hallway. The sink was moved to the wall opposite the entry door, designed with a floating cabinet. Tall cabinets run perpendicular to the sink cabinet.

This modern outdoor space, with its pop of vibrant Rangwali, is the perfect antidote to grey skies. But you don’t need a balcony to capture the spirit of this scheme in your own home – the inside of an arbour, the side of a shed, and even garden furniture and plant pots can be brought up to date with bold hues.
