Lighting can have a dramatic impact on a kitchen, and this was no exception. Additional overhead lights were added to provide highly visible work surfaces. Decorative Swarovski crystal pendants over the island were carefully chosen to pick up the subtle amber hints in the mosaic glass accent tile, hardwood flooring and window trim. Creative Design Construction, Inc.
The original construction of our client’s house called for a formal dining area and a smaller kitchen not conducive to entertaining. As a fault of the space, one of the primary goals of this renovation project was to create a free flowing floor plan that utilizes maximum cabinet and countertop space.
We removed the wall separating the dining room and kitchen to allow for an enlarged footprint for the kitchen remodel. The kitchen’s 15 x 18 foot space, flows gracefully into the family room and extends into a breakfast area overlooking the backyard.

A Seamless Integration of the kitchen the dining room
The semi-open kitchen with a sliding-glass panel offers the flexibility to extend the kitchen into the dining area, offering a more spacious party area to entertain friends and family. One can enjoy the view of lush greenery whether cooking or dining. The kitchen countertop serves as a spacious worktop, while creating a perfect bar area to enjoy a drink or two. Simply close the sliding glass to seal off the kitchen.
Simple yet stylish bar stools add to the modernity of the kitchen area and create a perfect bar table for enjoyment.
Lighting plays an important part to enhance the overall ambience. Ceiling light troughs create a visual illusion of a higher ceiling, while light troughs above the countertop serves as a practical task light for food preparation.
Artichoke
Artichoke worked with the renowned interior designer Ilse Crawford to develop the style of this bespoke kitchen in a Grade II listed Regency house. We made two furniture ‘elements’ providing the main functions for the kitchen. Care has been taken not to interfere with the original interior architecture of the room. Tall Georgian windows enable light to flood over the furniture as well as providing delightful views of the grounds. Limited palettes of fine quality materials help create the feeling of an art installation, enhancing the drama of this fabulous room.
Primary materials: Bookmatched Statuary marble and hand burnished gloss pigmented lacquer. The kitchen scullery is in English oak, finished in soap, a traditional Georgian period finish.
ODS Architecture
A professional chef's kitchen was designed for hard work. End grain butcher block top on the island, matching Sub-Zero fridge and freezers bookend a 6-burner Wolf range with French top and pot-filler faucet. The sandblasted glass door leads to the chef's pantry. A Blanco stainless steel farm-style sink with deep apron has a KWC dishwashing faucet. Dark brown subway tile covers the walls. The large sliding window allows passing through food to the outdoor kitchen. Caesarstone countertops and teak cabinets with slate floors complete the color palette.
Reico Kitchen & Bath
Designed by Akram Aljahmi of Reico Kitchen & Bath in King of Prussia, PA this transitional farmhouse inspired kitchen design features Green Forest Cabinetry kitchen cabinets in the Sierra door style in 2 finishes. The perimeter kitchen cabinets features a White finish and the kitchen island features a Summit Grey finish. Kitchen countertops are engineered quartz by MSI in the color Carrara Marmi. The tile back splash combines white subway tile with a Vintage Twenties tile behind the oven and ventilation hood.
Says the client, "Working with Akram was a great experience. He communicated quickly, coordinated times for me to see the products I was interested in and provided revised quotes to help meet the look and budget we wanted. Akram was patient in helping us understand and see all the options and choose what worked best for our needs. Our favorite part is the addition of the pantry cabinets. They are beautiful, clean and add so much useful storage. We love the final kitchen."

Amazing Spaces
The clients described their aesthetic as casual with rustic, country flare. Early involvement in the design and construction of the addition allowed us to have significant input to the placement of the columns that separate the kitchen from the dining area. The columns were used to set up symmetry in the room with the cooktop and hood at the center, and windows were placed around the room for an even distribution of natural light and views.
Green was chosen for the buffet unit to keep the white cabinetry from overwhelming the dining area while providing a visual break between the similarly stained table and island. It also helps meld the colors between the slate porcelain tile and wood floors.
