Only the chicest of modern touches for this detached home in Tornto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood. Textures like exposed beams and geometric wild tiles give this home cool-kid elevation. The front of the house is reimagined with a fresh, new facade with a reimagined front porch and entrance. Inside, the tiled entry foyer cuts a stylish swath down the hall and up into the back of the powder room. The ground floor opens onto a cozy built-in banquette with a wood ceiling that wraps down one wall, adding warmth and richness to a clean interior. A clean white kitchen with a subtle geometric backsplash is located in the heart of the home, with large windows in the side wall that inject light deep into the middle of the house. Another standout is the custom lasercut screen features a pattern inspired by the kitchen backsplash tile. Through the upstairs corridor, a selection of the original ceiling joists are retained and exposed. A custom made barn door that repurposes scraps of reclaimed wood makes a bold statement on the 2nd floor, enclosing a small den space off the multi-use corridor, and in the basement, a custom built in shelving unit uses rough, reclaimed wood. The rear yard provides a more secluded outdoor space for family gatherings, and the new porch provides a generous urban room for sitting outdoors. A cedar slatted wall provides privacy and a backrest.

The layered planting scheme along the front porch was designed to focus attention on the front porch and complement the existing paver walk. The suggestion to paint the posts, chinoiserie railing and porch trim a dark gray color added a dimension of sophistication to the simple frame house.

Most porch additions look like an "after-thought" and detract from the better thought-out design of a home. The design of the porch followed by the gracious materials and proportions of this Georgian-style home. The brick is left exposed and we brought the outside in with wood ceilings. The porch has craftsman-style finished and high quality carpet perfect for outside weathering conditions.
The space includes a dining area and seating area to comfortably entertain in a comfortable environment with crisp cool breezes from multiple ceiling fans.
Love porch life at it's best!

Graceful arches contrast with high gables for a stunning exterior on this Craftsman house plan. Windows with decorative transoms and several French doors flood the open floor plan with natural light.
Tray ceilings in the dining room and master bedroom of this house plan as well as cathedral ceilings in the bedroom/study, great room, kitchen and family room create architectural interest, along with visual space. Built-ins in the great room and additional room in the garage add convenient storage. While a screened porch allows for comfortable outdoor entertaining, a bonus room lies near two additional bedrooms and offers flexibility.
Positioned for privacy, this house plan’s master suite features access to the screened porch, dual walk-in closets and a well-appointed bath, including a private privy, garden tub, double vanity and spacious shower.
Turnstyle Living
Pictured is the North side of the property and the only side of the house that is accessible. There is a generous front yard and small back yard so we really wanted to utilise this space as best as we could within the budget.
Decking and privacy screens were a must for this zone as it is quite built up either side of the property and there are now two entertaining zones outside for lounging, dining or a dry bar.
French doors were installed to the laundry and double French doors to the dining room for access to the clothes line, backyard and entertaining deck with added natural light.
The screening doubles as an opportunity to add some greenery and that's exactly what we did so that inside the laundry and dining room, the view out will eventually be cascading green leaves connected between the wall pots.
We changed up the cladding and colour to add a bit of interest and vertical lines on the facade and down 1/3 of the side.
Front and rear fencing with pedestrian gates were installed so the yard is secure and private.
In addition to a tall lap and cap timber fence at the rear, we also added Himalayan weeping bamboo along the fence line that continued to meet the side deck for extra sound proofing and privacy from the busy road beyond.
Previously the front door faced East and rear door faced West but it made more sense to flip it aound due to the driveway access and the highway.

Curved banquette is upholstered in outdoor fabric for durability and maximizes space with hidden storage underneath the seat. Kitchen island has a retractable countertop for additional seating while the living area conceals a work desk and media center behind sliding shoji screens.
Calming tones of sand and deep ocean blue fill the tiny bedroom downstairs. Glowing bedside sconces utilize wall-mounting and swing arms to conserve bedside space and maximize flexibility.
