Texas Hill Country Exterior

Traditional Exterior, Houston

Economic considerations often omitted the incorporation of covered porches in an original and small home. Porches were often added later, and an architural shed roofs were used because of the ease to build and simple cooperation with an original structure. Due to the increase in industrial operations, inlcuding the fabrication of metal siding and roofing, the porches were often covered with metal as comared to the use of wood shingles or other type of roofing product available at the time the original structure was built. This design detail can be found on many Texas Hill Country style homes. Replacement metal roofing was often used on the original structures as the land homeowners discovered the value and long life durability of the product, and many new homes in the popular style are built with metal roofing over the entire structure.
