What Houzz contributors are saying:
Make the most of a bathroom with low ceilings and fit mirrored cabinets all the way to the top of the wall without leaving a gap. The look will be sleek and streamlined, and you’ll have all the storage you could desire.
3. Medicine cabinets Do you have the space to recess your medicine cabinet? Oftentimes this is a great way to save a few centimetres of space over a shallow vanity, and the additional framing typically isn’t going to break the budget. If that’s not an option, ensure that you have enough room at your vanity to have your medicine cabinet protrude by 10 to 12 centimetres.
6. MarbleA sophisticated, classic, smooth stone that works beautifully in both modern and traditional bathrooms. Its distinctive natural veining adds interest and drama to your bathroom with colours ranging from black, grey, rose and blue to white. It’s available in polished (gloss, high-gloss) or honed (satin, smooth with little or no gloss) and comes in a range of sizes in both slab, tile or even mosaics, which are becoming increasingly popular. Marble tiles can be used for floor and wall applications but are most commonly used as a feature due to its high price.Good for: Those for whom budget is not an issue, are looking for a classic, sophisticated look, and don’t mind the extra care and maintenance required. Not a practical tile for the everyday family bathroom.
Apply the same principle in the bathroom by using mirrors on the doors of cabinets that store cosmetics and personal care products above your bathroom vanity.More: Magical Bathroom Mirrors That Reflect the Real You
A shaving (or medicine) cabinet with mirror doors on the wall above your vanity is an excellent way of creating clever storage. Recessing these cabinets into the wall so that the mirror doors are almost flush with the walls creates a very streamlined look with “secret” storage. Your shaving cabinet really only needs to be deep enough to store moisturisers, shaving gels, etc, so about 150mm clear internal depth should be sufficient. Set it up with adjustable shelves so you can vary them depending on the height of the items you want to store.
Is it quality?Investing in quality will do three things: enhance your design, save you money in the long-term and reduce the need to replace, therefore reducing waste.Even if you have to wait longer and save up to make your purchase of building materials or furnishings, the positives will outweigh a more impulsive purchase.
