William & Mary Style Dining Room

Traditional Dining Room, Philadelphia

The client requested the use of Gracie hand-painted wallpaper panels in a formal English high-style dining room. We acquired beautiful hand-cast plaster moldings from Felber Ornamental Plaster which we gold leafed (in 24K0 and over glazed by hand. Drawings on paper carefully detailed the repeat of the molding motifs and the layout of the French panels that framed the Chinoiserie hand-painted wallpaper. Papyrus was commissioned to custom fabricate the perfect gold leaf tea paper for the ceiling. Lattice wallpaper from F. Schumacher/Greeff was used for the outside of the French panels. With a rich mix of periods, an 18th century Chippendale side board vies for attention with the custom Italian hand-made Colombostile Biedermeir style vitrines. The antique Waterford chandelier casts it's glow over an Empire style table from E.J. Victor. A lovely Savonnerie carpet from Marc Phillips is underfoot. Period, reproduction gilded mirrors and sconces by Carvers Guild. Settee by Decorative Crafts. Silk fabrics and trims by Christopher Norman and Scalamandre'. Photographer: David Gehosky
