This bedroom was beige and bland. Beige walls, beige carpet, beige bedding. The room needed some life, yet be a space where this busy single mother and Urgent Care physician could get some much needed rest and relaxation.
A deep, grey-purple on the walls set the stage, and fabrics in variants of heathered purple, plum, pinks and roses was chosen for the bedding. Bright, mustard yellow added some excitement to the muted tones. The custom bedding creates an environment of luxury as well as extreme comfort.
The two swivel chairs were updated with heathered purple velvet seat cushions piped in mustard yellow.
The carpet was replaced with wood-look luxury vinyl plank—a must for families with kids and dogs.
Because the client works many nights, being able to sleep during the day is a must. The ho-hum white blinds were replaced with floor to ceiling blackout drapery in embroidered linen on contemporary traverse rods.
Her existing furniture, large and heavy and dark-stained, was painted white with a grey stain and distressed heavily. This gave the furniture new life as shabby chic!
Additional lighting, updated fixtures, and carefully curated accessories round out this vibrant yet soothing space.

ReAbode Home Staging and RedesignThis master bedroom was designed to have a tropical feel. The client had a print from Puerto Rico that we took the colors from. The room is warm and inviting from the color palette to the warm woods to the jute rug. The small desk looks out onto a gorgeous backyard with trees. The floors are strand bamboo and the bed is made of solid neem wood (Casablanca Bed from Home Trends and Design). The nightstands and matching dresser were purchased secondhand by the client. Bedding was purchased from Demy Designs. The paint color is Benjamin Moore Castleton Mist and Manchester Tan (on the ceiling and walls not visible).

Masterworks Window Fashions & Design, LLCThis award-winning guest bedroom project tells the story of Pennsylvania's role in the Revolutionary War. The quilted bedspread is in a Thibaut fabric, and has a reverse sham, sometimes called a French flap. Banding at the hem of the custom quilted bedspread, and on the leading edge of the draperies were inspired by the leather collar of the portrait opposite. A contrast welting defines the edge of the mattress and of the reverse sham. Two naval battles with a Pennsylvania connection were custom framed, and are shown to the right of the window, while an engraving of William Penn signing a treaty with the Indians, from the Anderson House museum collection, is above the bed. An embroidered pillow shows the seal of the Society of the Cincinnati. The small tables used as nightstands are from Maitland Smith, while the headboard and bed frame were found in a Pennsylvania antique store.
