About Us

Atlas Architects is a Melbourne residential architecture and interior design practice, founded in 2015 and based in Footscray. We design new homes, extensions and heritage renovations that are a pleasure to live in and gentle on the environment. We specialise in: • Passive House and EnerPHit retrofits – quiet, comfortable, low-energy homes • Heritage home extensions and restorations • Custom new homes, from coastal getaways on the Mornington Peninsula to family homes in Bayside and the inner suburbs • Interior design and joinery, so the inside is as considered as the outside • Aging-in-place and accessible homes As a small, close-knit team, you'll work directly with a registered architect (ARBV 51550) from the first sketch through planning permits, documentation and construction. Our work has featured on Channel 10's Australia By Design and has been recognised with 11 Houzz Awards for Design and Service. We work across Melbourne, Bayside, the South East, the Mornington Peninsula and regional Victoria. Get in touch to talk about your project.

Ralph

It was a pleasure working with Aaron and Ton and their team. They were both really practical but creative as well. The two aspects of their work we appreciated the most were their problem solving and ability to listen and respond to our questions, concerns and ideas. Our project is a renovation of a small, old cottage and an extension that will see it double in size. We are both retired and intend to live there into old age and so it must be compact and practical, while also being aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks Ralph. We thoroughly enjoyed designing your extension from the architecture to the interior.

City on a Hill Surf Coast

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional local architect for Surf Coast community and residential projects! We recently worked with Aaron on a major extension for our church building here on the Surf Coast, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Aaron is efficient, clear, and exceptionally skilled at listening to project needs and translating them into brilliant architectural designs. Navigating approvals can often be challenging, but Aaron handled the process with the Surf Coast Shire Council and our various community stakeholders with complete professionalism and ease. It’s fantastic to have an architect of his caliber right here servicing the Torquay and Surf Coast community. Whether you are looking at a unique residential build or a complex public/community project, I couldn't recommend Aaron highly enough! ️✨

We had the pleasure of working with Ton and the team at Atlas Architects for the design and documentation for our renovation-extension of our 100 year-old house in Murrumbeena VIC. We prioritised collaboration, sustainability and budget with our project and Ton and the team have exceeded our expectations. Ton was extremely easy to communicate with, understood our brief and took on board our ideas with finesse and close attention to detail. We can't wait to realise our shared vision for our project as we move into our build phase.

We engaged Atlas architects to transform our tired holiday home into our permanent home. From the start, Ton and Aaron listened to our ideas and developed a concept that exceeded our expectations and were always available to discuss any issues or concerns. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure the design sat well within our overall budget, and all planning and permit requirements were fully adhered to. Both Ton and Aaron were very professional, approachable and diligent in all are interactions throughout the process and the comprehensive final plans have made it easy to engage builders to ensure our project is realised. We highly recommend Atlas Architects.

Working with Aaron & Ton for the past year has been an absolute pleasure. They have guided us through the whole design & planning process to permitting without a single hiccup. They both exude a calm demeanour when working through ideas and problem solving with an eye on bang for buck in our budget. They both have a comprehensive knowledge of Council requirements and worked to meet our expectations while guiding us within regulations. Their industry contacts are impressive and assisted us greatly. These two Architects compliment each other to bring a comprehensive set of skills starting with the bigger picture incorporating exciting & clever ideas as well as attention to the smallest details like making sure everything has a place, right down to how many shoes & shirts we have. We always felt we were in good hands, the smooth process a testament to their abilities. Do not hesitate to engage Aaron & Ton for your project, I can't recommend them highly enough.

I loved working with Atlas Architects. It was such a fantastic experience. It was collaborative and really easy to communicate what I wanted and needed from the renovation. Ton went above and beyond to come up with something that I am really excited about. Ton has also been super patient and thorough when explaining everything, which has taken the anxiety out of the project and he is just a really nice person. I needed a high level of communication, patience and trust to comfortably move forward with this expenditure, and that is exactly what I got! The quality of the plans and renders are amazing and it brought the ideas to life so I could feel confident about approving them and moving the project forward. Ton has also been generous with his advice regarding fittings and materials. I highly recommend Atlas Architects to work with.

The team from Atlas were great to deal with, very understanding of our needs for what we were trying to achieve in our Alfresco concept and build. The service was very professional and accommodating. Their architectural design resulted in an amazing transformation of the existing area and gave us an Alfresco Kitchen that far exceeded our expectations. The guys were very open and transparent with all their communication. We would recommend Atlas to anyone looking for a highly skilled architect and design team

Commented: CostHi Joelene, We don't have a cost for this joinery item separately. However, you should budget for a couple of thousand dollars. It depends a lot on the finishes as well.
