“We met Milos from Site Studio through a neighbour, and were immediately on the same wavelength. We love Milos' down-to-earth approach, understanding our need to transform our small dark terrace into what it's become - a light, airy, modern, industrial and a little bit funky home! Milos was in tune with our support for sustainability, for material reuse (we used 100 year old thick hardwood beams from an old George St building, recycled spotted gum flooring for some cladding, and now have a great recycled brick feature wall). Milos also got his hands dirty! We spent a couple of afternoons sanding and staining our huge beams. It was fun, but also reflects Milos' approach which is very much connected to the build. Milos and our builder, Andre from Kestrel Building, got on well and they both included me as client in the whole process. Milos was super creative throughout the build - from roof garden ideas, to our perforated steel landing to allow light into the hall below, to the 'stepped' roof with clerestorey windows to bring in air and light, to ideas for alternative materials, and much more. Milos is also very good value, bring his creative ideas at very reasonable rates. He also was happy for me to take charge where I could, in order to cut costs. And he included and actively sought my input. We are thrilled with our home that started with Milos' great design, and that he help guide along the way. We now have our much needed upstairs 'parents retreat' with ensuite and small robe, our beloved roof garden, our new downstairs bathroom, kitchen and living room with high ceilings and clerestorey windows leading out to the landscaped courtyard. I was very particular in my design requirements and have strong opinions about how I want things to look, Adam was extremely patient and empathetic throughout. He was able to take my vision and craft it into reality, finding ways to improve on it with lots of light and energy efficient design. The builders had zero issues with the plans and the sign off process (via CDC) was very fast thanks to all the time Adam took to consider every angle. “We could not have been happier with the home that Keith and Trudi from Form Follows Function designed for us. Our house was demolished and completely rebuilt and we employed Keith at the very outset of the project . Keith managed the entire project including multiple rounds of designs, working with a difficult local council and managing their many compliance requirements, tendering and selection of a builder and then management of the detail of the build throughout the project. At all times Keith was calm, thorough and he really made the whole experience easy for us. While Keith and Trudi were really great to work, I guess the most important part of any home build is that you are happy with the final product. ... And we are.. The home we have ended up with is amazing to live in! The spaces are great, the light throughout is amazing, the finishes are spot on and people constantly comment on the quality of the the build and finishes. The design is very clever and makes for a family home that is cosy when you want it to be but can accommodate hoards of kids and family effortlessly.... and it is a great looking house! Having heard a lot of horror stories about clients sacking architects part way through a build because everyone disagrees - we could not have had a smoother ride! I would absolutely recommend From Follows Function - both for the experience of working with Keith and Trudi and for the wonderful homes they create!”
