We wanted to build our dream home on our existing house block but were really worried as friends had many stories of how difficult the process could be. Knowing how specific we were with our brief, and budget, getting the courage to take the step to build was something I never really imagined would happen. Then one spring day on a whim, we went to an open house and saw a renovation by de atelier that ticked every box of the feel we wanted for our dream home. Briony and Leon spent a couple of hours with us and in 2 meetings we were walking through our dream home on a computer program. Briony introduced us to Lee from Silvercon at a house he had built. The quality of his work, the recommendation of the owners, and his genuine nature left us convinced he was our builder. Over the planning, quoting, choosing phase we felt so comfortable and confident with the rapport we had with de atelier and Silvercon as a team that we took an opportunity to move to New Zealand while all the building took place. Two years later, on time, in budget we received the keys, overwhelmed with relief and disbelief that we had everything we'd ever dreamed of. We should call this build "Dreams do come true". I worked with Leon and Briony to design a home on a sloping block in a very high bush fire risk area. The house also needed to make the most of the views to the west, while being energy efficient. We just love the result! While a curious 'tin shed' on the outside, the inside has a warm and welcoming, and slightly industrial feel and is perfect for family gatherings, weekends away and relaxing retreats. Just what we wanted. While the process of designing a home has its ups and downs - the process overall was easy due to Leon and Briony's professionalism, communication, respect and genuine interest in our project.

DE atelier Designed and project managed our new beach house build. They had a good understanding of our brief and provided their own good suggestions and ideas while still accommodating our key requirements. During the project management , showed good attention to detail and was able to negotiate successfully with all parties as the need arose. Overall we are very happy with the end result and the services they provided.

We engaged DE atelier Architects for a renovation and extension project to our beach house which was very "tired" and in need of an upgrade and update. Their professional approach and innovative design with both floor plan and building materials gave us a beautiful holiday home we love to spend time in. We have found DE atelier Architects to be responsive, timely and always amiable with a "can do" attitude and have since engaged them on two more projects and would recommend them without hesitation.

De Atelier architects transformed our two-storey holiday home into an outstanding family residence through innovative design and respect for existing elements.They created light and space integrating interior with exterior. On-going consultation with all parties involved was appreciated as the project evolved. Creative problem solving and a keen eye for aesthetics were highly valued. We are currently working on a renovation of another property using De Atelier architects.

As a builder of Architectural homes I have worked with Deatelier on several occasions. I have worked under contract to them as a builder and also have contracted Deatelier to design my development projects. They're work is innovative and inspired. DeAtelier are great at delivering projects that accurately meet the design brief and budget.. They stand behind their work and I would have no hesitation in contracting them to design my dream house (in fact I already have!) or to tender on work that they have available.

Every day we find cause to enjoy our home and be thankful for the creative architecture and professional work of DE atelier - their design is innovative, functional and a retreat for peaceful living. Special features include raised walkway floating over a pond at the entrance, light-filled stairwell directing residents to lower level self contained living area, two bedrooms, study and bathroom. Upstairs the kitchen, living, balcony and master bedroom. Moving between the living and the bedroom features an internal bridge / walkway. The design enhances our privacy as we look out to a rural view, yet sheltered from the urban street.
